first brought up in the scanner thread 3 years ago, but this newbie posted some scans on the boards 4 months ago - and they looked amazing.  He's the first verified user who's posted results.

on amazon for $549, free delivery, thinking about it too.  But the $ and the work, you know, for an incremental upgrade...

I'm not happy with either of mine, though my problem is more the color accuracy than worrying about the slabs.

I hate when the scanner dulls or distorts the colors. :pullhair:

Thanks for info.  Hopefully someone will strike and report back on that aspect. :wishluck:

I am taking a break over the weekend before the redeco begins.

Pic 1 is of the room as it currently stands. The comics are in the Black 3 level file cabinet and the 1 beside it.  I do have my Image books in a box that I am not sure if it shows up

Pic 2 is the Shelved I have my trades, Overstreet Guides and books about comics.

Pic 3 is a closeup of the drawers of the file cabinet

I liked my microtek scanners. But they don’t do as good a job on the new slabs. I think the conic is further from the scan bed perhaps.

does this scanner get crisp scans of the new CGC slabs?

The examples on that blog are too low res to judge. They look great but zooming in there’s little detail. I’m not saying the scanner can’t up the resolution of course, just that These scans don’t display any hi res

and another boardie chimed in this week

"I was one of them until 7 weeks ago.

Then I picked up a Plustek OpticPro A320E. I do not sell comics, at least up until this point in my life, but for inventory and insurance purposes it's great to have. Scanner runs around $500 but at least for me worth every cent.

Please note not all slab scans will be perfect. Seems to be slab by slab basis but what I've realized is 1st Gen CGC and 3rd Gen CGC slabs usually result in excellent scans. 2nd Gen slabs some light splashing is common, although at least to me very rarely a negative issue as the resulting scanned images still look decent to my eyes.  I've scanned 400 Comic and Magazine Slabs thus far, and only 2 images I've been unhappy with.

BTW: It works great on Original Art that measures 12"x18" or less."

So a few months ago I had to paint the collection room/Play room.

The meant emptying the file cabinets to move them and covering everything up.

When it came time to put everything back in its place I noticed I created a massive problem for myself. The collection was all over the place, I didn't keep track of the order I put books some I had put on different floors of the house.

I also noticed the bags were old and everything needed to rebagged & boarded.

I subbed to the CLZ android app and started to scan everything in too keep track of what I had. As each book was scanned, I changed bags and boards. And ran out of both. Time for trips to LCS.

Shop has resealable bags which are a godsend. I buy a few hundred of both & I go home to continue... And notice some of the boards are wrong size. Back to the store to exchange.

Bagging and boarding continues over few weeks cause I am a lazy SOB.. Until I run out of boards. Back to the store which has run out of boards and they are on back order.

I put an order in and wait and wait and wait.

Store finally gets more supplies. Back to the lazy scanning.

As of last night, I finished the job. Many many books in new bags and scanned so I know where everything is. And Exactly how many books I have. Which is not as much as I thought

Now I can finally tidy up the room and make it into a true hobby room.

I will try to post pics of what it looks like.

When you got your books organized, it must have felt good. You are the master of your domain, You get to relax and enjoy your books.

Always enjoy reading about how others physically manage their collection, like how they're organized and what products are used. But also interested in what method is used to keep track of it all. For me, I use a spreadsheet to keep track of my comics. I know what I have, as well as info like when and where I bought a book, and how much I paid. I don't necessarily know where everything is though. Working on that.

I've been contemplating trying out the CLZ app. It looks snazzier than a spreadsheet but not sure if I'd be duplicating work already done. The GoCollect comics value feature would have been a bonus but I understand that's gone now. Still looks great though.
