My other big book was acquired three days before the end of that record breaking auction . Timing was everything but most important it was only short time after the birth of my first child I forever linked this book with him and will pass it on for him to enjoy many more years . Low grade but I’ll take it . A grail comic for me .

Top 3 2021…

3.   Silver Streak #8 White pages (I’ve had a few copies of this over the years but all 3 were either restored, destroyed (absolute brittle taped up rag), or incomplete (missing back cover) so to finally land a blue label with wonderful presentation and amazing PQ makes me gitty haha!!

2.   Our Flag #5!!! My favorite book of all time PERIOD. Not just picking up another copy but getting to own 2 for A short while was amazing and what makes me even happier is knowing the new owner of my old copy @sagii is just as appreciative of its rarity and cool factor as myself. Book is finally getting the respect it deserves!! 

#1.   Getting my oldest son started officially on his collection with some bigger books. Bringing in the next generation so to speak. Sure comics take a back seat to sports and friends etc as they did for me but i’m hopeful one day he will look back and appreciate sitting down and reading some of these stories with his old man like i did with mine and find an appreciation for it and if not he can always trade in his 2 UF4s for some beer money or something 🤣

Onto 2022, I see two prospects coming up soon that could start my collecting year off with a bang, but if I learned one thing from @Robot Man while here, it's don't announce you're after it until you snag it (or something like that, lol)

Was just elated (and stunned) to hear that you weren't going to keep both copies of OF5, so took out the big boy pants, pressed them and put them on lol

This one coming in just under the wire.  I've wanted a copy like this for at least 15 years.  Anyone familiar with this book knows how hard it is to find without a dust shadow.  Metropolis had an 8.5 for years that was a whole lot cheaper than this one, but I wouldn't have been happy with it.

That is so true re the dust shadows on #18s. This is a stunner. Big congrats!

Somewhere, either online or possibly deep in the '1939 Newsstand' thread, there's an amazing 1942 photo of enlisted soldiers in a store of some sort where you can clearly see a fresh rack of this issue.
