Perez was a few months in when I really started buying Avengers. He was the first artist I could ID by the art alone. Then there was this page.

I've always wondered how much better Perez's early work on the Avengers would have looked were it inked by anyone other than Vince Colletta?

My first CGC comic was also a Signature Series signed by George Perez11834663_InfinityGauntlet1.thumb.jpg.f1e704bac46acf65a435b08d4b6d78f4.jpg

Yeah, that's the one I'm sending in to CGC to get signed, to take its place among many other copies I'm sure. Sad news. :(

I remember when I was looking forward to re-reading his first run on Avengers a few years back, and when I started was disappointed to have forgotten that The Eraser had inked his art.

I think it was in the late 1990s, I was getting sketches from artists Alley.  This was at Megacon in Florida.  I asked George for a sketch and he said that he wasn’t doing sketches today because he needed a break but he would be happy to sign my book.

Check out his ”signature”. It took him like three seconds. What a great guy!
