To ease up on buying books went super hard in the past few months… but I might want for Christmas, ASM 122 to finish my 1-200 ASM collection as I just recently organized my collection and found I was missing that copy… d’oh

I have several books that will rollover into 2023 but was able to knock several off the list this year. The second half of the year was much easier to land a few more books.

1. Yes, a few hundred.
2. Barely. Made it through one long box.
3. Yes and no. I read mainly EC reprints and a few misc. issues. I'm behind reading all the new books I acquired which isn't good.
4. Nope, not even close.
5. Yes, but nothing extraordinary. I did get a good deal on a very nice mid-grade ASM 59 which I love.
6. Nah, not yet.
7. No.
8. Yes definitely.

Now I'm at 7000 posts. Busy year in a sense.

9) impressed that you remembered this post, 10) know the answers as they are relative the entire year, and 11) still have a lot of good stuff to be thankful for! Many boardies speaking up that 2022 was harder, more than 2021, it made me say a lot of prayers and continue to be grateful.

I wound up selling off eight 25 gallon rubbermaid containers of stuff.  That's 200 gallons.  There were containers that fit under beds that I got rid of.  I seriously reduced the amount of plastic crack.  I have been planning this since the beginning of 2020.  For example, at that point I had over 500 GI Joe figures.  At this point I have less than 30.   I seriously cut into the Lego.  I was able to get rid of three short boxes of comics. I went for things that take up space and not so much value.  I cleared out cabinets, drawers and bookshelves.  I was able to get rid of a couple of bookshelves.  The idea was to severely reduce the footprint of 'stuff' in this house.  

Ever since the pandemic started and I was working from home I realized that the house was just a place to sleep, entertain, and store my stuff and that had to change.   So it was time to make it a home. 

Now, I have been selling stuff to buy more stuff since I was a teenager.  As I mentioned, I remember selling death of Superman issues to my teachers.  It's been a long time coming but after staying the course,  I am going to take a break this year.   I even discontinued my CGC membership, mostly because of quality control issues, but to stay away from that routine as well.

I might sell a few things locally that were too big to ship.  For example, I still have not committed myself to selling the giant Star Wars Sail Barge but if I do that is going to be sold locally.   Also the more I sold the more I discovered I had packed away in the storage room.  Shortly before Christmas I found all the Brio wooden railway toys from the 80's that my brother and I had.  That's too heavy to ship and has to go locally. 

The real thing is, and it is something that I have mentioned privately to a few people here, I have most everything I could ever reasonably get.  So at where is the line between buying what I want versus chasing a never ending list of things I do not have? 

So my want list? 

• Superman 24
• 50's / 60's Sci Fi page of Art, (Strange Adventures or something like that)
• War Cover
• Upgrade an ASM from my run.
• Sell more stuff locally.
• This year's Lego modular house.  I will pick it up at one point as it was released on Saturday.

Let's see how I did... 

• Superman 24 - Nothing came up that I liked (that I was aware of)
• 50's / 60's Sci Fi page of Art, (Strange Adventures or something like that) - Was outbid on the one page I liked, BUT I did pick up other things this year. 
• War Cover - Accomplished
• Upgrade an ASM from my run. - Accomplished with ASM 10 going from a 5.5 to a 7.5
• Sell more stuff locally. - - Accomplished
• This year's Lego modular house.  I will pick it up at one point as it was released on Saturday. - Accomplished, along with the Marvel Modular Dr Strange House, the 90th Anniversary Castle and the 90th Anniversary Galaxy Explorer as well as a few others. 

What was different was that I knocked off a few more midrange keys that I had wanted but never got around to picking up like a Batman 181 and a Daredevil 2.  I wound up buying more art than comics as certain things were offered to me.  From Batman, to Disney to Spider-man art, and I picked up several GI Joe pages this year including key components like Snake Eyes and Stormshadow from the cover of issue 300. (Each character was hand drawn and inked then scanned into the cover.)

I will wait until I see a 2023 thread to state my goals for that.

I wasn't specific enough, I think I dialed back cgc submissions. I paid about the same but got less acquired in raws, so dialed it back a little until this uears end. Still a lot of impulse purchases, just different times and places. There was a lot more available in trade this year, and I'm not sure if those have all played out yet, we'll see

I upgraded my JIM83 from a 2.0 to a 4.5. And my Avengers 4 from a 3.5 to a 6.0.

I added a bunch of cool books. A handful of ECs, some WWII covers... Really exciting stuff in GA.

CGC graded Batman 72, 76, 86, and/or 90 in 7.0 or higher.  

    Failed completely

CGC graded Spiderman 39, 40, 76, 80, 87, 98, 103, 104, 112, 113, 116, 117, 134, 141, 143, and/or 145

    Snagged a Spiderman 40 and 98

Get my Batman 1, 8, 59, 65, 70, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 98, and 99 graded

    Got my 8, 59, 65, 70, 92, 94, 95, and 98 graded

Add at least three Aurora model kits (monster, dinosaur, Super hero, or TV based)

    Killed this one, got another Frankenstein, 3x Hunchback, Forgotten Prisoner, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Wolfman, Dr Jeckle/Mr Hyde, 8x Prehistoric Scenes, etc.

    Failed again

Send in some of my "for sell" stuff to CGC (at least 40 books)

If I only I had been more passionate about it earlier on, it might have been more readily found. It's appreciated,  because avenues of official and authorized would beyond my basic Google search capabilities

I didn’t do so well I went completely off my collecting goals burned a few thousand on modern stuff, and some slabbed ones; got some statues and tried to relive my younger days trying to build my Pokémon card collection back.. didn’t go as well as I hoped. At least near end of year I got back on track picked up a new mutants 98..

Incredibly, unbelievably, this is basically exactly what happened.  I spent about 60 percent as much as 2021 but bought only 187 "comic books."  Of these, 45 were ASM, 12 were Avengers, 34 were Fantastic Four and 7 were JIM/Thor.  I also picked up 6 Strange Tales, 14 TOS and 2 TTA.  I also bought 11 Planet Comics.  I did pick up other random stuff, like a bunch of Big Little Books and some pulps, but not much.

The only "miss" here is in the grades, but it's hardly news that high grade Silver books are expensive and Planets skyrocketed in price this year so I have some 5.0-7.0s in there and also some readers (which, after all, are just another chance to upgrade).  Plan is pretty much unchanged for 2023.

Side tracks are easy and I found that out a year before this one, thats why I was thankful for this thread. Even then the goal oriented wasn't in me to be specific, but I'm right there with you. I guess if need be, to study analyze what we're "after" especially when it isn't natural for us like "right now!" Lol

Having ideas is 1st, perhaps, then of those make goals. Last year I had no ideas, so that's my thing this year I got some, and if there is a new thread I might have the goals to pursue
