Module prices were pretty high

T1 not in the best condition $210

U1 not in the best condition $154

U2 nice but only $65

U3 sealed $325

Dragon #1 $1700

hm I may have a few items

I underbid 10 lots and won one. After getting blanked on all the other stuff, I was hoping to get outbid on the last lot as well. But, no, so, $38 winning bid on the module below plus $20 shipping. Awesome. :tonofbricks:

Congrats on the pick-up.  Once I win one items I go hard on others because of the shipping fixed cost.  My winnings.  The World of Warhawk stuff was coming out as I quit playing but I liked the artwork on this one.  I had an insane fantasy about winning it off Heritage when it auctioned a while back but of course got destroyed as it closed.

The T1 was middling grade, a first print, but NOT hard to find overall. Should have been in the $100 range. Weird to see a common mono go that high.
U1 was a BEAT copy...worth MAYBE $20. You can find those everywhere.
U2 is just as common, middling grade, again a $20-25 module all day long.
U3 in shrink, but looks like 3 corners popping out (the kind of thing you'd expect multiple pictures before bidding on) got a very healthy number. I would have pegged it at $200-225 max due to lack of scarcity, even in shrink.
Dragon #1. No back cover scan and still $1700. Double what I would have gone without knowing a lot more about the condition of the back and interior.

It was pretty wild to see some of the most common items, modules, getting such premiums.
This one might be one of the most egregious and most indicative of how odd these results were.
The "A" series is one of the most common module groups out there. Lots of people played it.
With just a front cover pic the buyer had no idea whether it was a 1st, 2nd or 3rd print as that information can only be discovered by seeing the back.
In comic grading it's a "FINE" condition copy.  $20 all day long.
Right now there are 30+ copies on eBay around this condition or better for $15-35.
Why this went for $170...I can't even begin to imagine.

I remember seeing the original painting for the first Monster Manual on Heritage about 20 years ago, but have been unable to find it archived. Anyone ever seen any OA for any of this stuff?

It's a comic where the front and back covers are actually made of a folded sheet of thin, brushed metal. They're fairly heavy.

IIRC, I came across the writer of this series at NYCC 2021 and he was telling me about a potential high-profile TV deal for the series and such, so, I decided to get one of the metal variant cover issue #1s, which he offered to sign in front of a CGC witness and get it subbed directly at the show for the CGC Signature Series. It's now in my collection. As of January 2023, the property was in development at BR Films.

I assume you are guaranteed a good grade for these metal variant covers??

No idea...this is the only comic I've submitted for grading in almost 20 years and the only metal variant cover I own so don't know how CGC treats them generally.

These originals are around. I used to own several of the Grenadier dragon lords artworks including the best two (red and blue).

I was always a Ral Partha guy. I liked his detail on his figures and the character proportions.

Speaking of modules, recently picked up the original art of the map of Ansalon used in the 5E Dragonlance book... it was not cheap.

I bought all four A series modules in great shape in August 2020 for $130 including tax & shipping (so probably about $110 before t&s). :cloud9:

I feel that A2 is particularly sweet (though my group always tended towards a little more military-assaults so it fit our bias). I've had great success with running it as originally designed, ie a 4 hour tournament module with 9 NPCs. Upstairs or lower level. Give it a try--it's a fun nostalgic experience.
