I mean no offense at all to anyone, just want to state that amateur pressing is amateur for reason. Waves and reversion are common attributes of amateur pressing and those processes begin immediately. You'll note that even professional pressers rarely show images laterally from the edges of the book. If you've ever looked from the side at books in nice condition that were stored properly and have never been pressed, they can naturally appear perfectly flat.

Maintaining (or returning) a comic's flatness after curing the defects is to me what separates a professional presser from an amateur, and even experts can sometimes go wrong on that point and the books will have to be sent back for re-flattening.

Here are some examples of introduced defects from a couple of people selling a pressing service. Ignore the superficial improvements and instead note the waves present in the book as betrayed by the motion along the EDGES of the comic. Such artifacts shouldn't be present on a properly pressed book that was made properly flat. The strength of these introduced defects will vary depending on the presser, but on amateur pressings they can be obvious.

The amateur element, beyond the physical result, is a hyper-focus on disappearing the original defects to the detriment of the rest of the book. There is a way to manage both ends and that's what an expert does.

P.S. Shoutout to @joeypost, not an amateur and the best in the business.

You paid additional for a fold out cover, really?

Paid special care, I believe he means he was extra cautious. It sounds like a self-presser, not a situation where he paid someone else.
