To call someone an infringer has everything to do with the subject matter. 

Infringing on someone’s intellectual rights has nothing to do with the subject matter they used on it. It has to do with perpetrating the crime of using someone’s IP without their consent or knowledge. A flag, a set of boobies or a turtle - it doesn’t matter what it is when you utilize someone else’s property to sell stuff.

There is a fine line between cottage industry tolerance and flagrant infringement among the comic industry. These guys - in my opinion - crossed that line pretty definitively.

So in light of CGC grading this thing... 

 

Would CGC grade other books that were fan made with materials added to the book after publication by a third party and marketed for fans. 

In the dark years of Valiant, the Valiantfans website was able to publish a few comics.  Yes, I have asked this already but never received a definitive weigh in. 

Does CGC grade these? 

1st Comic is Solar Man of the Atom #10.  The book has a new cover by Don Perlin and the interiors have the preliminary pages to the original Solar 10 along with a few unpublished pages along with five pages of interview with Shooter and Perlin about the Eternal Warrior, the Geomancers and the book itself.   It also has a new (original?) back cover by Chris Schons.   It also came with a metal Valiantfans sign.   I don't know what the print run was on this but I know it was limited. 

2nd Comic is limited at 50 copies due to the accompanying backing board featuring unpublished Turok art.  Would this be designated as a File Copy?  What evidence would CGC require in order to be satisfy this?  

Has anyone ever asked about grading things like these?  I did not see these particular books on the census.

There's no reason they shouldn't be okay with it.  Instead of a cowl, Mile's is holding a US flag.  Big deal. 

Sure, Disney would find that offensive but I doubt Marvel does.

No one remarqued anything.  Allegedly Clayton "drew" the acetate cover and that was mass produced and added to the original Clayton Crain drawn variant.  I say "drew" because it's basically a USA stamp with some digital stripes.  And maybe the only art is the flag that replaces Miles holding the mask.
