The VFX didn't do the emotional work when it came to his father, mother, etc. Most people would say that Miller and Fisher were the standouts in ZSJL. They had the most character development and the biggest impact to the story.

I did not see anything great with either character. It is a superhero movie - acting is secondary.

I'm a Shazam fan since childhood. I really like Zach Levi as Shazam. But I would be more upset if Shazam the character wasn't  a part of the new Universe as opposed to Zach Levi being replaced.    

I don't know, the baggage is just way too heavy. I am ready to move on. Ray Fisher was cool, but I rather see the character come back, cohesively. This mythology deserves to be done correctly. 

No, because I don't trust that WBD has learned any lessons, and I don't trust Gunn to write well for well-known IPs. Having Superman front-and-center in a DCU is a no-brainer. It's not a challenging thought and it's nothing new. I don't trust the guy who threw away something great to create something 'better'. If it's not better (assumed), then what is the point?

Isn't it sad when a studio that proclaims as one of its value propositions is being director-driven and this has to be announced?

If Gunn wanted to really solidify the old and new DCU then perhaps the first thing he does is Crisis on Infinite Earths.  Take the Snyder characters and throw in a few other iterations.  Then whoever is left standing is the cast he wants to carry the DCU forward with.

Cutting Cavill reeks once again of DC not have a pure plan.  Yes, Gunn wants to map out his vision for the DCU, I get that.  However, the fans of these characters have been jerked around and had their investment reset and cancelled on them way too many times and we are at the point that eventually fans will walk away.   A universe and world building movie campaign only works if you have a few key parts and one of those parts must be fan investment. The fans do not seem to have a reason to stay with these characters. 

Want to keep Cavill around for a movie or two?  Use the Flash movie as a starting point.  Shoot one last tag on that movie that the rift still exists.  Fade to black and say, Earth 2 (or whatever) will return in 2025.  

Cavill gets a sendoff.  Affleck gets a sendoff.  Gal Gadot probably remains.   Introduce a new Green Lantern, bring in Patterson's Batman who was actually great.  Keaton's Batman gets a sendoff and introduces us to Terry McGuiness.  

Heck, have Cavill's Superman save the universe and stop the "Crisis" by sacrificing himself by throwing himself into the sun ala All Star Superman and have Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman look at Patterson's Batman and say, "We have work to do...  There is a Superman out there somewhere."  Tag the movie with a flashback scene thirty years ago of Ma and Pa Kent finding a rocket ship in a cornfield. 

Give the reason for the fans to be invested by not necessarily continuing the Snyderverse but at least acknowledging and linking to it.
