g-man
Wowsers! Is that the highest price realized for an Andru ASM panel page? It's a great battle page. A few years ago, covers did not go for much more than that!!!! grapeape
Without Romita inks I'm surprised at the hammer price. Can't argue with the great action and imagery though. Spidey and Doc Ock all over this one. Spider-Variant
MAY1979
Love Andru's 1973-1980 output at Marvel and DC, glad to see it getting some respect but that is TOO much respect. batman_fan, Rick2you2, taro90 and 1 other

jjonahjameson11
Similar quality pages from 158 and 159 sold for around $4K back in 2016. that’s quite a spike! later Andru ASM pages from ASM 185 have sold for upwards of $23K recently, just to add more info to current sales Edited December 13, 2022 by jjonahjameson11 Spider-Variant

But you have to stay positive, Reggie, and think of ways that you could make that dough. I've recently tried out after dinner speaking about my specialist subject of how to not make any money out of comics due to lousy timing. That page sold for $32,582.95. With the money I've made from my first speaking engagement alone, I now need only $32,582.95. It's possible I'm telling you, Reggie. It's possible. Will_K
Aunt May should've broken a hip in that last panel. This is a great looking page. Except for the lack of backgrounds, which probably would take away from the action. I'm ignoring the price since I don't follow that market. KingOfRulers
I think it's a great page. Would I pay $32.5k for this page? No. But I lose most auctions, so I'm unwilling to pay FMV for most pieces of interest to me in today's market. I'm constantly being surprised by what pieces are getting now. Funny enough, I see it as no surprise that Andru's Spider-Man work fetches this amount. He's one of the top Spider-Man illustrators. Ditko, Romita Sr., and McFarlane are certainly the top three Spider-Man artists. In my opinion, Andru is number four. I'm sure some would argue for any number of other creators such as: Bagley, Larsen, Ramos, Mooney, Kane, or Saviuk. For me, it's easily Andru. Being that among the top three Spider-Man creators, Romita Sr. is the most "affordable", with Spidey costume pieces starting around $20k, it makes sense that an excellent example from Andru would generate the amount that it did. taro90 and lhcomics

I would put Gil Kane at #4 and Andru #5 (Kane drew so so so many key books from 89-105 and 120-124 and 150 (and about 30 asm covers including first Punisher in 129!!) trimpehulk
Gil Kane yes at 4 for many reasons and the ones Mike posted. Number 5 not taking anything away from Ross Andru or the page that sold. He will not crack my top 5 EVER. Pollard was so much better not to mention Romita Jr, Byrne small sample size and Ron Frenz, and Bagley. Andru 9 or 10 just my opinion. Pollard and his body of work often overlooked. marktom, mtlevy1, jjonahjameson11 and 1 other

I love Pollard ASM art personally much more than Andru...I just felt his run on the title was not long enough to be considered in the top 5. but artistically i love his art and I feel he is one of the most under-rated artists from the late 70s / early 80s. (His FF and ASM art are spectacular to look at in person!)
trimpehulk
No Doubt the Pollard run was short but it was very impactful and reset Amazing Spider-Man at least to myself where he belong a must read book. The title lost something in the mid to late 150s that Pollard reset just my opinion
