ttfitz
Last count - 156 Money Shot 1-5 Read some good things about this, so thought I'd give it a try. Meh.Spy Superb 1-3 Not sure why I picked this one up, I guess something in the solicitation caught my eye. Decent read, although I found the art aggressively ugly. Not sure it was worth the $7.99 cover price, though.Human Target 1-12 Very much enjoyed this one. Good story, surprisingly leisurely pace given the premise, and beautiful to look at. Did a good job of portraying the "Justice League International" vibe without getting too silly - and acknowledged that it WAS quite silly. Recommended for any DC fans of the time frame, as well as the old "Human Target" backup in Detective Comics.Invincible 20-35, 0, The Pact #4 I enjoy this more and more as time goes on.Fantastic Four 234-239Avengers 213-216,Annual 10Marvel Teamup 111-114Amazing Spider-Man 222-224Spectacular Spider-Man 61-63 Not quite sure what to say about my Bronze Age reading (how late does Bronze go?). A few semi-classics here. Getting close to the point in time when I started collecting/reading again in college, not sure whether I will reread any of those, or go into something new. Monstress 16-18 Still quite enjoyable - and beautifully horrific art - and I feel I'm slowly learning who everyone is. As much as you can, I guess. Looks like that puts me at 215 for the year. Below my unofficial goal of 100 per month, but ahead of pace for hitting 1000 for the year. Ken Aldred, Raze and srezvan

If you haven't read any of these, I'd highly recommend the first one (available on Hoopla if you are so inclined) but probably skip this sequel. That sucks to hear! I was looking for the TPB this month. Shirtless Bear fighter 1st series was great! Yeah, I agree. The way I've put it to some folks is the original series was like a bunch of jokes that had just enough of a plot to move it along. The sequel felt more like they tried to have an actual plot and had to be reminded to add some jokes in. Raze

Popular Post Ken Aldred
E-Man The Early Years E-Man 1 to 10 2023 total = 36 Never read these as a kid back in the 70s. Simple SA / BA style stories, interesting character, Joe Staton’s art shows a lot of early promise, having quite a fondness for his later 80s work on Green Lantern; the Guy Gardner / Kilowog / GLC era. Popular Post srezvan
I took a short break from actual comics to read these two "how to" books to give me some inspiration on an upcoming project. Then back to regular comics, hitting 100 so far this year. GI Joe TPB #14: The downhill slide of the series continues, unfortunately. The 90s style art and costume redesigns are rough. Some okay storylines, but the overreliance on ninjas is too over the top. I still need to hunt down Vol. 15. cbalroman, Raze, ttfitz and 3 others
Norrin_Radd
Read The Shooting Star (1941 - 62 pgs). Somehow I had never read this Tintin story before. It's a bit strange with an asteroid hitting the earth and a professor portending the end of the world. Then, it turns into an adventure as Tintin and Captain Haddock lead an expedition to the Arctic to discover the meteorite. But they are hampered by a rival expedition backed by an evil financier. But Tintin is triumphant in landing on the meteorite first and claiming it for the scientific society funding the expedition. The strange properties of meteorite cause everything to enlarge quickly (mushrooms 🍄, an apple core grows into giant apple tree, and a spider). Tintin is rescued from the sinking meteor with a sample. And the evil financier of the other expedition about to get his comeuppance. Ken Aldred
The Terrifics Vol 1 Meet the Terrifics The Terrifics 1 to 6 2023 total = 50 Very disappointing. I like Jeff Lemire’s indie work, and he’s done some good super-hero material such as his Thanos run, but this is very, very weak in comparison. Nice Ivan Reis artwork for the first couple of issues, but quite inessential. Edited April 18, 2023 by Ken Aldred Raze
Norrin_Radd
Read my favorite Tintin story The Secret of the Unicorn (1942 - 62 pgs). What's not to love... mystery, humor, and pirates. Tintin buys a model of an old ship for his friend Captain Haddock only to find out that the Unicorn was captained by his ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. Captain Haddock finds a journal and recounts the tale of how they were attacked by pirates and the ship sunk with pirate treasure. Tintin is kidnapped by the Bird brothers (who are on the quest for the treasure) and taken to Marlinspike Hall. With help from Thompson and Thomson and their case involving a kleptomaniac pickpocket, the story concludes with Tintin and Haddock going to search for Red Rackham's treasure (the next story). These storylines were the basis for Spielberg's Tintin movie. Ken Aldred, Raze and srezvan
srezvan
119 comics so far this year. Jeff Smith is doing an event in my state this week, so I used that as an excuse to finally read the books. A little bit of a slow start, but it really picks up and is a great read overall. I'll probably pick up an omni from him so I can finish the series. Ken Aldred
Chase 1 to 9, and Chase 1 Million 2023 total = 60 Another bargain bin gem. Quite a good, solid read throughout, raised by some at times excellent art by JH Williams III. Still developing as a creator, with a lot of over-the-top panel designs and page layouts, but underneath that you can see early signs of absolute brilliance here. Definitely could interpret the series as a precursor to Bendis’ more successful Alias comic. The only particularly weak issue for me was the final 1 Million story.
