For Journey Into Mystery #81, Jack Kirby does the cover and writes and draws TWO stories, both inked by D. Ayers (signed!***). There's some confusion as to who inked the cover - it's believed that Kirby did with an assist by George Roussos.

These signed issues are IMPORTANT in discovering the lie of Stan Lee. Stan CAN'T sign these stories - Kirby has been doing them - WRITING and penciling them - since he came back to Marvel. Stan CAN'T take credit for them - Kirby turns them in complete with dialogue written into the word balloons.

On OTHER stories where Stan has forced Jack to accept his involvement - Stan SIGNS those stories, separate from the 'Kirby & Ayers' signature. But on the monster books... not once... not even ONCE... does Stan's signature make it onto a Jack Kirby story.

This is EXTREMELY telling with the addition of the ‘Kirby & Ayers’ signature, because he DOES add his signature to those other stories.

They are Marvel’s best selling comics as verified through Statement of Ownership numbers.

Stan’s Lie is right out in the open.

***It’s a smaller signature… noticeably smaller, so it makes me believe Ayers said something and Stan compromised. It’s a damn shame Ayers didn’t say MORE about this…

For Tales of Suspense #31, Jack Kirby does the Cover and writes and pencils TWO stories, all inked by D. Ayers (with signatures).

When you read a story like this... that is written by Jack Kirby... its easy to see the style of Silver Age Marvel. He REALLY did right the stories and even provide the dialogue. Stan would make minor changes and add some of HIS dialogue.

For Tales of Suspense #31, Jack Kirby does the Cover and writes and pencils TWO stories, all inked by D. Ayers (with signatures).

Jack's work would remain consistent, regardless of working with either Lieber brothers... he was a better natural writer than either of them.

For Tales of Suspense #31, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko have a story, signed Stan Lee and S. Ditko on the splash.

Stan's work would change depending on the artist, based upon THEIR strength or weakness in actually writing the story.

Possibly one of the best "monster" covers tales of suspense #31, which was given to me my by Grandfather at his drug store. Still remember when and where I bought that book...in fact a number of panels ring the memory bell. That book stood out in the rack. By FF5 or at least FF7 Marvel in collectors eyes was here to stay.....
