Sadly, our long time member, Thomas Drew, who we all knew as DJPinkpanther67, passed away on Sat April 29th. His death was not expected. He left a family that he supported, his wife Carmen and a 5 year old little girl as well as a daughter who is just graduated HS and one who is graduating college and getting married shortly along with 3 grown sons.

I was told that she really could use some help from us, so I called her (she's really nice ) and I asked Carmen to write something and she wrote what I'm about to post.

Hard facts: We are a family of faith! We believe and trust God! Thomas did not have a life insurance policy. We still fully support 2/6 children ages 5 (preK) RaeLyn & 18 (high school senior) Mia. Our 25 year old daughter, Taylor, graduates from college on 5/6 and is getting married on 5/20. Our 18 year old graduates on 5/19. We have a grand baby due in July. I am a disabled Navy Vet. We settled into a simple life in rural Georgia in order to be able to be fully present in our children’s lives. 

Our 5 year old was with him for about 14 hours before I could get help to them, as I was in Durham with our senior making last minute college decisions. 

 

Our hearts are heavy with grief and sadness over the unexpected passing of Thomas Drew. He was a cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him.

 

During this difficult time, many have reached out to ask about how they can help. We have initiated this fundraiser to alleviate the financial strain on the Drew family and allow them to focus on mourning and recovery.

 

Any assistance you can provide - whether it be a donation, spreading the word about the campaign on social media, or simply offering kind words and prayers - would be immensely appreciated.

 

We are grateful for your unwavering support and love in this challenging time.

For those of you who are new to these threads or just don't remember (we have not had one in a while thank G-d) here is how this one will work.

You can make a payment directly to the gofundme page listed with the link above. With gofundme you can list your name or you can be anonymous, your choice. Gofundme does charge a percentage like PP, so if you prefer, Carmen also uses Cash app $carmendrew  and I can give you his PP address if you need that instead. 

She has an id now  Mrs.DJPinkpanther so you can pm her directly if you chose you can ask for her address if you prefer sending a check.

If you would prefer to list a book or another item rather than make a cash donation (I know sometimes people don't have extra cash funds) you can post it directly in the thread.

For a buyer, please post the name of what you are buying and a in the thread. If you want to take the book by PM, contact me and I will do a thread with you and the person donating the book.

Please make sure to monitor the thread and mark it sold, promptly when the item is sold, because if you post it, I won't be able to mark it.

I usually keep a running total to let people know progress, but that was back when I was posting all the books. I'll keep in touch with Carmen and try to update as often as it makes sense.

My heart was really broken when I read about Thomas's 5 year old daughter being alone with him after he passed. So not only do we have a disabled Vet , but a brave little girl who is the daughter of two people who served our Country and were disabled.

I've suggested that Carmen set up an Amazon wish list for her two younger daughters. I will post that info when I have it. If there is nothing on the list you would like to purchase, gift cards are always useful.

Very sorry to hear about this tragedy.  Last year I learned about the passing of Neal Adams on these very boards from DjPink/Thomas, who like me was a big fan of Neal's artwork.  It is haunting reading about his passing a year later on the same boards.  Life is too short so please remember to hug your loved ones while you still can.

Comic Cavalcade #17, CGC 1.5 OW, 1946. The notes say cover detached and all interior pages detached. I did not have this book slabbed, so I never saw the raw book, but it looks pretty good for a 1.5;) and with 13 on the census in blue, it's scarce. There are 16, total.

Bin is $245.00 the entire amount goes to the family. Free shipping in the US, I'll split shipping to anywhere else.  In addition the the funds from the book, if someone buys this, I'll donate $150 to  the family .. I think all would agree that Thomas was a great guy, passionate collector, and liked to spread comic love. I think he would approve of the presentation on this one, but it’s not quite the 9.6/9.8 he loved!
