Popular Post zzutak
According to Mike's grade distribution table, 108 players completed Round 3 (down from 128 at sign-up, 121 in Round 1, and 114 in Round 2). Here are the key measures of central tendency for this round (Mean = the average grade; Median = the middle grade in a numerically rank-ordered list; Mode = the most common grade): Book CGC Grade Distribution Statistics # Grade Mean Median Mode 11 7.0 6.1 6.0 6.0/6.5 12 4.0 4.2 4.0 4.0 13 6.0 5.6 5.5 6.0 14 7.0 6.4 6.5 6.5 15 8.5 7.8 8.0 8.0 The Board scored 128 bulls-eyes in Round 3 (24% of all grades submitted, compared to 23% in Round 1 and 17% in Round 2). Here are a few other notable observations based on the data reported above: Book #11 (Motion Picture Comics #110): The most challenging book for the Board as a whole, with only 14% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and only 43% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board was nearly two grade increments more critical than CGC (6.1 vs 7.0). Book #12 (War Fury #1): The easiest book for the Board as a whole, with 36% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and 81% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board was about one-half grade increment more lenient than CGC (4.2 vs 4.0). Book #13 (House Of Secrets #4): The second-easiest book for the Board as a whole, with 29% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and 66% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board was almost one grade increment more critical than CGC (5.6 vs 6.0). Book #14 (Strange Tales #114): An average difficulty book for the Board as a whole, with 24% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and 57% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board was slightly more than one grade increment more critical than CGC (6.4 vs 7.0). Book #15 (Fantastic Four Annual #6): Another extremely challenging book for the Board as a whole, with only 19% of the contestants at the same grade as CGC and only 54% within one grade increment of CGC. Collectively, the Board was about one and one-half grade increments more critical than CGC (7.8 vs 8.5). Except for Book #12 (a "gimme" 4.0/4.5), the Board as a whole was always more critical than CGC. Did we suddenly forget how to grade according to CGC, or were we blessed with a set of books that were routed through an exceptionally soft CGC grader? Time to go big or go home! Cman429
Can’t believe there’s still someone in single digits. Looks like I moved from low middle to upper middle so I’ll take it. Subtracting 3 points from my total due to last rounds shenanigans, I’m actually pretty pleased with my showing thus far. jcjames
