Hi y'all.

It's been a few years since I ran some pure freebie threads over in the Sales Forum. I gave away some books on several occasions, no strings attached.

I've decided to do a competition, something I've been thinking about for a while, in which I will give away 4 main items plus I will throw in a few other surprise bits and bobs.

I want to give back to this incredible community again, and make Xmas just that little bit more extra fun. Giving is always so much more fun than receiving I think, but receiving is still nice too.

This will be a WINNER TAKES ALL comp. One person gets the lot. I will ship the prizes at my cost to anywhere on the planet, and the box of goodies will be tracked all the way to your door.

FWIW I am not a dealer (not since 1991), I am no longer a Businessman as I'm now retired but I am still a professional in terms of my approach to the hobby. My kudos thread only paints a very small snapshot of the many hundreds of transactions over the last 10 years or so. Lots of people don't like to leave feedback as they want their purchases kept on the downlow, however in all that time only one solitary book went astray (somewhere in Canada) and the buyer was refunded in full. Anyone who has bought from me will tell you of the level of service I provide.

All that is a moot point however, as this comp costs you nothing except a little time if you want to enter it.

It's worth winning. One book alone cost me $350, so there you go.

The competition will start on December 1st and run until December 10th at the latest.

Some people who sell on the forums employ the usual caveats about HOSERS, PROBIES, NAUGHTIES and people on their personal Ignore lists. I do not have anyone whatsoever on Ignore, that's not to say I love everyone, I don't, and I know damn well the feeling is mutual with some people. With that in mind, I ask that you PM me to ask for entry. I will reply either with a  or a . If you get the thumbs up, you're in. I'm doing the entry by pm because I don't want to possibly embarrass someone. I doubt that the very few people I would exclude would not apply anyway. In the unlikely event someone is refused, I will not enter into dialogue of any nature as to why.

I must add that in the spirit of Xmas I am unlikely to refuse entry to anyone because I'm feeling that I probably should not, given 'goodwill to all'...well practically all.

I'm hoping people will embrace this comp and enjoy it, that said it will not take place at all unless I get a minimum of 20 participants. I will post the handle name of anyone entered to confirm their entry.

Here are the rules, please read carefully.

1. The comp will start on Dec 1st, when I will post what you actually have to do. Everything will be self contained within the forum space.

2. The comp. will end on Dec 10th. In the unlikely event no-one wins, I will roll it over to Easter 2024.

3. The comp is not open to HOS, PL members or those few others mentioned.     

4. The comp is only open to members who have at least three years tenure on the Boards i.e. those who joined up before Dec 1st 2020. The member must also have at least 1000 posts in the community.

5. When somebody has the solution, they will pm with the answer and it must be exactly correct. Each person only gets one crack at it, and a typo could be crucial, so check your answer most carefully. This will become clearer to you when I post up the actual competition start on Friday. A typo could be disastrous and you only get the one shot. No exceptions.

6. I ask that when you receive your box of prizes you do a small act of kindness for a stranger. Maybe give a few bucks for a hot meal to a homeless person, or do a lonely old person's shopping or donate a few bucks to charity? It's up to you. I don't want proof, I will take your word. Honour system.

Absolutely no math or anything involving real use of grey matter. It will however take some time. It depends on who wants it bad enough.

Just to be clear, the actual details of what you have to do will be revealed on Friday. I can't even hint at it at this stage because I want everyone to have an equal chance.

I must stress it won't be difficult, or hard, but to win you will have to put in some time. You will have 10 days to complete the task. That's more than enough.

I would also add that moderation and Admin are extremely welcome to enter this. They are as equally busy as everyone else and would have no advantage over anybody else. 

Also the post count caveat does not apply to them, but the tenure does.
