grapeape
I saw this prelim on Glen's Panel Page Art website. Got me thinking, who out there has prelim art in your collection. A "prelim" for ASM 302 by McFarlane recently sold on eBay, you can see it on Lee Benaka's brilliant thread Flip of the Day. What have ya got? Popular Post The Voord
Not comic art but might be of interest . . . Large pencil conceptual drawing for the 1964 William Castle movie, THE NIGHT WALKER (one of my favourites) Interestingly, for the Demon at centre, the resulting movie posters added a pair of underpants for him to wear (no self-respecting demon should be seen in public without them!) and all the surrounding monster-types got censored-out of the printed poster. The artwork actually forms the basis of the movie's introductory title sequence (see screen caps in additional images) . . . grapeape
I purchased this directly from DOA at the SDCC in the nineties. Sent a message to Jim Warden and he very kindly has reached out to Mike Zeck. grapeape: Was this intended as a Punisher cover Is it the prelim to Bloodshot Last Stand cover Maybe started as Punisher then used as Bloodshot? Dying to know. I attached the cover to Bloodshot Last Stand it looks dead on to me. Mike Zeck responded to Jim Warden: • It was not originally created for any Punisher related project. Specifically targeted to that Bloodshot cover. Looking at it now is the first time I’m realizing how close the pose is to a Punisher pose from years prior. The ‘Plate One’ illustration for the first Punisher Portfolio! I wasn’t aware I was ‘homaging’ myself at the time :-) Loading... and John E.

Thank you Twanj. Of course the SS cover knocks me over, but I'm also smitten with the quality of the 1602 art. Twanj

Popular Post davidtere
There are various versions of this prelim that Ward did before the finished piece. Some are rougher than this and one that I have seen is fairly tight. But this one is mine. szucchini, The Voord, Readcomix and 3 others 5
davidtere
I'm not sure that Kirby intended this as a prelim, but it's not the finished piece. Unfinished and pure Jack pencils. grapeape, Twanj, aardvark88 and 1 other

alxjhnsn
A few. Both from commissions that I never thought to ask about. Anthony was selling them after the deaths of the artists, Nick Cardy and Giordano respectively. Click the image to learn more. Popular Post Xatari
Two Deadpool pages from New Mutants #98 were sold at Heritage a little while back as prelims. However, if you listen to Rob Liefeld’s podcast, he and Marat Mychaels explain his process during this era. These were the original pencils done on smaller paper (which is how Rob liked to work) then a Xerox machine was used to reproduce a larger copy which would be inked by Marat. I wish I had purchased both pieces but could only afford one at the time. Congrats to whoever owned the other! Mine is currently on display at the Marvel Exhibit in Wellington, New Zealand. It's gotta be a thrill to have a piece of the production of a dandy "new" Marvel character in his first appearance stage. Worthy of display for historical content from the great world of original comic book art! And who knows.... maybe Deadpool will one day blow up and become a popular character.
