PGM Web of Spiderman #1

Hi guys wondering your opinion on this Web of spiderman 1, it has what looks like printing error or color rub on the L in Marvel on the top, not sure what that will deduct from the grade.  Thanks still learning and trying to get better on my grading.

9.0 IMHO I don't think that is a colour rub on the "L" in Marvel at the top of the page. I think it is a printing defect and would not effect your overall grade. Having said that, I wouldn't take my word for anything given my performance in the latest grading tournament LOL

Thanks for posting!

8.5-9.0 with the color-breaking spine ticks. I had an Avengers Annual with mysterious tiny yellow blobs of ink along the spine. Nothing that looked or felt like wear, but had no idea if it was from the printing process. Also no clue whether or not CGC would ignore the "defect" when it came time to assign a grade.

This looks like what the CGC guide describes as "ink missing" but someone who's expert in ink defects would need to confirm with it in hand. If the area is glossy, then it would likely be missing ink. If it's duller than the surrounding areas, it's more likely to be post-production. The range CGC gives for ink missing is 6.0-9.8 depending on severity. I'd call this a 7ish book. Maybe one would get lucky & score a higher grade, but I don't think the potential high end expectation would justify rolling the dice on grading.
