Fake or not? Hulk 181 and Spidey 1 GRR
1 1

Hey all, just wondering hat you think of these two comics? Pretty sure they're fake, condition is too nice, and the entire situation is pretty suspect (including price). If they're fake, they're pretty good ones though...

Thanks!

The ASM 1 is a Golden Records reprint from 1966.

You can tell because it has no pricing box. I took two pictures from ebay. The original is the signature series with the $0.12  in the upper left. The other is the reprint, which looks like this one.

I don't see any signs the Hulk 181 is fake, but where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

He knows it's (supposedly) a Golden Records reprint. That's why "GRR" is in the thread title. He's just wondering if it's real or counterfeit.

Well, that IH181 is absolutely not okay. Cover colors are always tough to tell in isolation because lighting can do weird things with color... but I really don't think these are correct. I suspect a color copy cover. Also, those staples are not remotely believable as legit IH181 staples.

The ASM 1 GRR looks okay from these pics, but if these have the same provenance, I'd be extremely careful checking for restoration or other book manipulation. The GRR is nowhere near as valuable as the "real" ASM 1, but it's not exactly a cheap book on its own merits.
