How the F do you catch a different staple and miss that back cover replacement? That's like catching a burned out headlight on a '57 Cadillac but missing that the rear end is from an AMC Gremlin.

My last real submission was in the summer of 2020.  I have been seriously considering starting to submit again as I have boxes of things that would do well at auction if slabbed.  Every time I consider submitting, I am given reason not to.   I wish things were better.

That back cover is clearly from later in the decade, I noticed that as soon as I saw the book.

There was thread about this one already about a month ago.  The back cover is from Coo Coo 42.

There was a number of missed wrong back covers in The Promise Collection.

I thought the Promise books were all high grade? Or was that an incorrect assumption on my part?

Let me play devil’s advocate here. Is it possible that the married back cover was accidentally left off both the label and the grader’s notes? Does the 1.8 Q grade possibly represent that book in the scans knowing it has the wrong back cover and a replaced staple?

Is it known who married them? Is it thought to be the OO, a middle man, Heritage, a buyer of some low grade raws that weren’t originally slabbed?

Wouldn't an incorrect back cover make the book...  incomplete?  And therefore a 0.5.

I honestly don’t know, but it does make sense.
Does anyone know of prior instances of books being graded with the wrong back or front cover?

Graded high is different than high grade.

The collection is well known to be over graded.
