Eh, the ninja craze ended in 1989. These 2 were a product of American children's fascinaton with ninjas during the 80s (see American Ninja I-IV, The Tick's spoof of ninjas, TMNT, etc). I didn't find them to be of any great importance, espeically considering the GI Joe comic was really nothing more than an attempt by Marvel to push its toy line.
