Great books. Two-Gun Kid #75, "Remember the Alamo", May 1965. I think this is a truly iconic cover. I believe it stands up there with Sgt. Fury #13. It would deserve a larger scan, if possible.

Another Kirby panel cover. The Atlas and early Marvel westerns had fun stories.

The Marvel westerns did occasionally veer into superhero territory, but they were still fun books.

Had I been a fly on the wall at Marvel in 1964, I might have heard something like this:

DC's books are flying off the shelves with those damn gorilla covers! We need one quick! Hurry, hurry, don't worry about perspective or scale, just....make it happen!
