Speaking of first appearances, the pulse-pounding, nerve-numbing debut of Death in War is Hell #9 must have been very popular, as here's Marvel pumping the next issue, complete with the grim reaper as the headliner.

I'll end of this segment with what I personally feel is the START OF THE BRONZE AGE, and definitely on the Marvel side, the First Appearance of Conan the Barbarian.

This ad is a preview of the upcoming "Comic Mag Event of the 70's" and it's pretty obvious Marvel knew this was gonna be the next big thing.

Very cool! I also like how the hand holding the sword can be viewed as a "Thumbs Up!"

You know, JC normally I think you can be one of the world's biggest 893censored-thumb.gif but this thread is really great. I am going to dig up what little Marvel BA I have and see about putting a few of the ads up as well. thumbsup2.gif

Here's another really cool one, this time trying to make some cash off the Voodoo craze. Out of the "fear-drenched jungles of zombie-haunted Haiti..." Make Way for Brother Voodoo!!

Here is an ad I remember vividly from when I was a kid, and that tentacled-cat-thing really freaked me out for some reason. I also recall trying to find/read that comic but I never did... even to this day... 893whatthe.gif

This ad is from later in the Bronze Age, and is definitely more artsy and moody than the previous ones. Still very interesting, and it announced the beginning of one of the most popular comic series of the late-BA/early-CA, The Micronauts!

You like that? Check this one out, no number - this was right around the time Shang-Chi got his own mag (taking over Marvel Special Edition) and while the pic is from MSE #16, it notes issue #17 in the text. Strange.
