Post Your Marvel Bronze Age In-House Ads!

Now for something completely different... This comic was hyped like crazy and I'm not sure how well it sold, but at that time, it seemed like I couldn't turn a page without some sort of ad or promotion for Marvel Super Special #4, starring The Beatles!

This is an ad from a popular Bronze Age character for a book that just slips inside the Bronze Age limit.

When I saw the first issue of Moon Knight on the stands, I wished Marvel had followed along with the silver-black motif of this promotion. As we know from future covers, it works very well for a character like Moon Knight:

Going back in time a bit to 1976, we find this old chestnut for Marvel-Con '76. I can remember reading this and thinking "if I was in NY, I would so be there!". I only had a few book stores nearby that would get old comics randomly, and the opportunity to fill in so many back issues in one shot, would have been like a dream come true.

Not to mention:

I guess Marvel thought the Bronze Age was as good a time as any to revive the "comic book satire" and they choose horror as the genre to spoof in the incomparable ARRGH!!

It is interesting to note that Marvel did beat the "Love at First Bite" horror spoof movie fad....

This may not strictly be an in-house ad, but I thought I'd include it anyway. I probably spent hours mulling over these "Official Marvel Solid-Bronze Collectors Medallion Coins"...

Until I had an epiphany - What the 893censored-thumb.gif would I ever do with these stupid things? Then I never thought of them again. grin.gif

Just to be sure this thread has something for everyone, I thought I'd throw the Variant Mafia a bone with this incredible find!

Three, yes count 'em, three different versions of the same Dr Strange ad!!! 893whatthe.gif

The bombastically bombardable BLUE variant:

And a version so rare, it may only exist in our tortured dreams, the incomparable YELLOW variant!!!

If I was just A LITTLE bit crazier I would collect each of those comics...

This is a fun post! Thanks for starting it JoeCollector, and I like Big Jim's additions as well. The fact that the variants had different color plates for these ads is also interesting. Thanks cosmicspiderman!

I'll post a few. This one is more Silver Age than Bronze, but still...
