Collected from '42 to '54 when I went into the Navy. Started again in the early '70's with my

sons...& now with my Grandson.

Still have most of what I bought in the '40's & '50's...my sons have everything from the '70's.

Most of my books came from Newark, NJ & Scranton,PA.

The hardest thing I remember about buying comics in the '40's was making the decision to

spend my dime on this month's BATMAN or SUPERMAN or to pick-up a STUNTMAN #1 or

SUPERBOY #1 or MARVEL FAMILY #1 (I was already getting CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES

through the mail)...it was a tough world!

When do you got a knowledge about that there are "serious" collectors who pay more than the cover price for certain issues? I wonder if those keys like Action 1 or DC 27 had collector prices/value in the 50s or late 40s?

It was in the mid to late '60's that I first realized my cardboard boxes of comics in the

garage were worth more than the dime I paid for them...their value to me were the hours

of escapism reading pleasure they provided me.
