It's always tricky to scan pages of these lower-grade books, as the staple areas are fragile....don't want to detach the cover, you know how it is. If I can do it, will do.

I personally wouldn't attempt a scan, but maybe a photo if you have a digital camera.

As mentioned before, here is the WEIRD #4 I picked up from Metro along with the SCIENCE 1 and 2.

Fantastic Joe Simon torture cover on this one!!

And just in from Jim Payette.....here's another insane cover. It's mind-boggling to think that 8-year-old kids were reading this in 1940.

I just buy these for the articles...I swear.

(Or at least for the Fletcher Hanks stories!)

Wonderful Cover, Jon, congrats...*sigh* now I have ANOTHER series to look for..;) You and Bang Zoom really got me interested in Fox books, Gator got me interested in a few Centaurs, and Scrooge has me looking for EVERYTHING not to forget all the other great posters, I have not named......I've totally given up shoes...*sigh*

I know what you mean. lol There is way too much cool stuff being posted around here, and I want to go after more of it too!

I may have to give up shoes myself... (shrug)

Sharon, this could be the series for you. Not only does it feature crazy Fletcher Hanks stories inside, but all the covers have guys with their shirts off!

Here's my group shot of Fantastics. As with all Fox titles, the cover art quality dips after the early issues, but there are plenty of cool ones.

You mean I could even interest you in a comic about, get this:

"Convicts condemned to a living death in a penal colony!"

It's kinda a pretty narrow interest and quite kinky with all the shirtless men (here we go again) being whipped. :o

(Sorry for the non-Fox book intrusion)

The Fantastics are wonderful...and the condemned one...well...;) I'm not QUITE sure why this works, because on TV or in person, I'm perfectly happy starring at Hugh Jackman for a few hours, or listening to Sean Connery...but as far as Golden Age :cloud9: comic book covers go, I just prefer the GGA covers, even with the Fox ones....there is something about the colors and the drawing of the female figures...I just enjoy them...and I think they were done with more passion...

But i would have NO interest watching tied up (or naked ) females in person...even in a dressing room:) (shrug) Now give me a good SA GL Cover ... Hal Jordan was my first love...he had jewelry AND he could fly :cloud9:

If that's the key, Sharon, you might as well go whole hog with The Funnies issues featuring Phantasmo, the Master of the World. He skips more than the shirt.

But that wasn't the key...Jack..;):makepoint: You just assume, I'd be interested in naked sexy....comic guys...;) I like men who can do more than pose half naked... I DO love Batman...but he's different:)

Phantasmo's thinking is: If you've got it, flaunt it.

Errr...you KNOW, I might have to revise my thinking here, he's not HALF bad...;)(worship)

Thanks Bangzoom, for showing me the error of my ways...;) and good night to you all, you've kept me up too late, but I've been smiling! :cloud9:

Hi y'all,

Sorry to have been out of touch with this thread. I have just been too durn busy

with this cockamamie Fletcher Hanks book! The first edition sold out in 3 weeks (no doubt thanks to many of you, and I DO mean THANKS!).The second edition has just sold out and the third edition is being printed as I type. I thought only you guys would be interested but it seems that even "normal' people dig that cah-razy Hanks art!

Here's the scoop on those tales from Fantastic #8. This is just my opinion based

on hours and hours (O.k., let's be honest...YEARS!) of looking at Hanks work.

The Stardust story in Fantastic #8 is just about the lamest one in the run. It looks

like it was done on the subway on the way to the Fox offices. it appears rushed,

filled with shortcuts, sillhouettes and long shots. It is, however, a very significant

story in that it shows how great an artist Hanks really was.

How so?

Many people still make the assessment that Hanks is so bad that he is good. Not

true. Hanks is so good that he's great! And a really bad Hanks story just proves

that when the guy was on his game he could tell a comics story like nobody else.

His storytelling chops are solid, his drawing is dynamic and bold. Sure his character

design is bizarre and his plots are twisted, but that doesn't make him a bad

cartoonist. Au contraire!

Tough reviews on these stories! I see where you're coming from, but I do love 'em all.

By the way, looks like you posted the Stardust splash to Fantastic #10, not #8. (No complaints, as it's one of my favorite stories.)
