Here's that article from the June 1995 Comic Book Marketplace. Their hard-to-find grade is VF or better, but the list is still pretty similar.

Do you agree with this list much? Putting #2 at the top and #6 at third made me immediately raise an eyebrow. However, I do recognize that I've got the benefit of the Internet and its population-estimating tools such as the CGC Census, online auction sites, and GPA available to me that Gary Carter certainly didn't have back in 1995.

I think #6 and #8 are about the only misses near the top of their list. I think #2 is a relatively tough book and the census backs that up.

Also, the list was put together before a lot of the Silver Age pedigrees surfaced. No Northlands, no Pacific Coasts, no Curators, etc. But even so, I think they mostly got it right.

#28 is almost impossible to find in a High Grade, but when you do see them in the 7.5-9.2 range they look fantastic with the all black cover. Beautiful design by Ditko, one of his more impressive covers.

Maybe it's the scan, but I've seen lower graded copies with better color "pop" and less cover transparency. But again, hard to judge without having the book in hand.

It's the scan--translucency appears in scans dozens of times more often than with a book in hand. I'm not sure I've ever even seen the translucent effect on a book in person while it's closed or in a slab.

Really? I had a 64 that looked translucent in-hand.

If your patient, 6.0s - 7.5s can be great buys.
