Popular Post Sauce Dog
Even though I know little about sericel collecting I could not resist getting this classic cover - one of my favourites (one day I hope to upgrade my CGC copy)! Apparently these were prototypes for a product intended to be sold in a number of galleries and shops at Universal Studios. No contracts were finalized, so never went into mass production. I also picked ups the sericel for the cover of Adventure Comics #52. F For Fake
A couple of beat but complete pickups from my LCS this afternoon. I dig the 12/22/45 date stamp on the back of the Exciting. Also the Bonnett's stamp on the Superman, I don't think I've personally had one of those before. kelholt, Larryw7 and Jayman
Popular Post Sauce Dog
Speaking of art purchases, I consider this one (as opposed to a comic purchase). While I am not a Superman fan, I have always loved the cover to Action Comics #36. It is one of those rare covers that just feel like the perfect representation of its era. Bright primary colours, zany wonky robots, punching, and very large depiction of the superhero - all front and centre - making it impossible for this cover to not catch your attention. I bought my copy of it (qualified) last year while on my honey moon (from instagram on my phone, while the two of us waited for our breakfast order pool side at the Chateau Marmont) and thought that would be the end of my Superman purchases. Flash forward to this very month when only now did I learn the cover was actually based on a story (the issue itself features no robots inside, so I assumed it was one of the many 'cover-of-lies' you find on comics). I ended up buying one of the serial pages of this story that originally ran in newspapers in 1940 (predating this cover by about a year). It just arrived and I had a frame waiting for it - Now I can admire both the cover art and the story it was based on all at the same time! kelholt, Professor K, comicjack and 7 others

Popular Post Robot Man
Cool Octopus cover I recently picked up cheap. badback83
How about this classic little L.B. gem. From a bound volume. A little glue left on the spine, but it presents beautifully. Larryw7, podboy66 and Zolnerowich
