Is this Kewpies comic the one that Wertham singles out in SOTI as basically the only worthwhile comic in existence?

What I want to know is: how did you remember that (it's mentioned on page 35) AND how did I happen to open SOTI to that very page when I looked to double check your memory?? insane.gif

Cue Twilight Zone music. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Ok, Ok, these are incredible books from the time period, but lets be real here. Looking at tonights post after a long wait is like looking at 1950's porn. You don't want to look away, but it does hold a candle what you can see today. So my point is while these are awsome books, I and if everyone else was honest would say is bring on the major keys. Lets see that Tec 27, and some other sick Sh$t you have pilled in that amazing collection of yours. Bless you reguardless, and thanks, but bring out the good stuff. Quit serving your guests 2 buck Chuck! Just Kidding! Post what you want, I just love super hero books

Man, I can't get over this back cover. I wish I had a low grade copy to read to my 3 year old daughter. Just based on this, without having seen the interior, I'm sure she'd love it!

Very impressive, BZ.

I recommend you stay away from that stuff. It's foul.

But don't ever compare classic Walt Kelly to 2 buck Chuck. We might have to raise a posse if you do it again.

I actually find these posts very refreshing and interesting to look at. These books rarely show up in high grade and they have great covers. I am just as curious to see his major keys, but lets face it, I know what the cover to Action 1 and Detective 27 look like almost like the back of my hand. I say show more of this obscure stuff!

I agree. I think those Walt Kelly and funny animal books were some of his most interesting posts. You just never see them, let alone in high grade.

I don't remember everything in SOTI, but I think Wertham's choice of the single comic that all others should aspire to was just SO bizarre and out-of-left-field, it just stuck in my mind.

Never seen a copy of it until you posted yours, so thanks!

I love Cady's Burgess stuff. I just picked up a couple of pieces of OA from the books. Some day I'll buy the first six issues of the Peter Rabbit comic series which have his artwork (all reprints from the newspapers I think).

Thanks for sharing! cloud9.gif
