BangZoom
Thanks for the scans, Scrooge. I'm a big fan of Jack Cole's work but, unfortunately, I don't think his style is appreciated by most other collectors.

The Black Hand ®
Thanks for the scans, Scrooge. I'm a big fan of Jack Cole's work but, unfortunately, I don't think his style is appreciated by most other collectors. Being an MLJ collector and a fan of Jack Cole's "Comet" I certainley appreciate his style. It's refreshing to see some of Quality's stuff here, for they do seem to be under represented on the boards. I think ounce for ounce Quality had by far superior stories and artwork.

A nice change for once - Let me show it LARGE -
BangZoom
Great looking splash. The coloring that was used is especially effective in creating the mood.

We're all sobbing along with you, but that'll l'arn you not to loan out your funnybooks to the neighbor kids! (I actually thought that was a yawning icon until I saw it quoted as "cry".) Instead, here's a scan of Military Comics # 2. Super-bright copy, as usual! Jack

ciorac
Yank the Doodle wearing their WHITE undies outside their pants seems like a poor costume design decision to me --- especially considering their names! Here's a clue. Dell published more than 100 issues of this title, but not this particular number.

selegue
Red Ryder #4 Well done! I guessed that series was a possibility but GCD calls #4 Dell. What a confusing publishing history! Overstreet says that #6 is the first Dell issue. If you have the issues in hand, could you tell me the publisher in the indicia of #4 and 5? If there's a correction to be made, I'll send it to GCD. Tough quiz! Jack
comicparadox
The first time I saw this cover, I thought that Green Lama was a blind superhero. Very strange eyes. Raboy, right? Jack And he appears to be taking phenytoin, which explains the gingival overgrowth.
rjpb
I must confess - I just pulled up the galleries for long running Dell series on GCD until I found it, checking Popular and Super first, though OS listed no other publisher. They did for Red Ryder, and I just hoped it would be in one of the galleries. Without the clue I would have been - well - clueless.
