MrBedrock
Does anyone have a scan of the issue of Henry where he is sucking on the huge candy cane?
BangZoom
Dell offered such variety. "The intimate life of a winsome squirrel..." Maybe so, but I really like the cover to Perri (in fact I love that entire Nature Classic / True Life Adventure sub-series), if only for the colors but also the contents. I wasn't being facetious, I truly love Dell comics. However, this week I've been reading some of the love and western comics (non-Dells) in my collection. However, this week I've been reading some of the love and western comics (non-Dells) in my collection. Oh, I believe you. Dell did produce some nice comics. Your comment though begs a question. You say you've been reading your comics, yet, on those pics, they all look virtually unread Which leads to: how do you read your books?

Theagenes
BZ, those pucks are just amazing. While not in color, I have a stack of Frank Leslie's Illustrated newspapers from the 1880's. Awesome engravings! I've never owned any copies of Leslie's newspapers. If you have the time, could you post a scan / photo of any engravings you think are especially neat. Do you have any issues from the time the Statue of Liberty was being constructed? Here are few pics that I already had on my computer. I'll try and get some more later. They are all from 1872-73, so a little before the statue of liberty. Here is the front cover of one of them: This is cool - an early comic strip by Wilhelm Busch: Another comic strip: Here's a powerful one for you "Hooded Menace" fans. Sadly this isn't fiction. Sadly this isn't fiction. Fantastic! Were the German language editions intended for the German speaking market here in the United States or were they printed overseas? BangZoom
Your comment though begs a question. You say you've been reading your comics, yet, on those pics, they all look virtually unread Which leads to: how do you read your books? I place them in a coloring book and turn the pages carefully. This technique gives support to the spine and keeps handling to a minimum. Normally the comic isn't poking out at the top like that. This photo is just to illustrate the method (and to show Scrooge my copy of White Wilderness).
Theagenes
They were printed for German-speaking immigrants here in the States. Apparently, there was a Spanish edition also. I believe there was a difference in content as well, with added material that would be of interest to German readers. The Wilhelm Busch cartoons, for example, were probably reprinted from a German newspaper. I'll try to take some pics when I get a chance. Some of these engravings are amazing.
