  1. Tailors will make house calls (or office calls) if the pay is right. Used to work for people who had similar setups.
  2. He has a nice signature that doesn’t distract from the art, so it’s ok in my mind.
  3. I’m pretty sure it was this. I still have my copy, but Spidey’s eyes were colored in green marker.
  4. October 1981. Doesn’t look like a big month for keys, but this is a classic cover.
  5. I just finished reading this entire thread over the last month or two. Some mind blowing finds, especially the Batman #2 in very high grade, Action Comics #8, and multiple Amazing Fantasy 15s! Kind of sad to see people who posted a lot early on slowly fade away over time. I actually kind of forgot I had these. My father in law gave me his old collection from the late 50s to early 60s a long time back and I kind of thumbed through it but didn’t pay much attention. Mostly funny books as you can see, but the last pic has what I think is the Good Stuff. I don’t know if anything before the last pic has any real value, please let me know if I’m overlooking anything. Most are in rough shape with a few exceptions. Amazingly he was pretty much within an issue either way of major keys on every book listed (unless you are a big Streaky the Supercat fan!). If only he’d held on a few more months he probably would have gotten some truly amazing stuff, but oh well. These books are in much better shape, so I guess he took better care of them when he was a little older. Anyway, for the price of $0 I am happy!
  6. Anyone ever found anything for a great deal at Half Price Books, or are they pretty good at pricing appropriately?
  7. When I was young, Spawn, The Maxx, The Tick and anything X-Men were as hot as you could get among my friends.
  8. What is the best collected omnibus type series for the Alan Moore run? I see the set on Amazon but don’t know if it’s what I should be going for. Shamefully I have never read a Swamp Thing book!
  9. Same here, sold the remainder last year for a few hundred but had already sold all dual lands and other pricy Revised-era cards a decade before.
  10. You can define best as most valuable, keys, great story, great interior art, whatever….but those covers have to be fugly! These covers have to make you think twice about buying this otherwise great book. What comics fall into this hall of shame?
  11. Ski’s in Athens, Ohio. Great guy. His store had tons of long boxes I would dig through for hours, searching for the hot back issues I read about in that month’s Wizard. He was always interested in talking about older comics and was welcoming to kids like me who had to pay with pocket change.
  12. I know the issue isn’t rare, just checking if the newsstand version is since you mentioned it.
  13. Serious question, if a copy of Superman #1 showed up signed by George Reeves would that increase its value?
  14. Does anyone know print runs for the 1996 Wildstirm Maxx cards factory sets? They include the 90 base card set and both 9-card insert sets.
  15. I guess the #6 card isn't rare, I must have been mistaken. The #5 is and there is a redemption auto card but it doesn't have any notification of authenticity.
  16. Anyone into the trading card series? I've read the 93 Topps foil inserts #5 and #6 are pretty tough to come by. I'm still trying to complete the 97 Wildstorm insert sets as well but they're not too tough.
  17. Nice book but I'm not sure how the grading works (not meant as an insult). It looks miscut at the top where the price is, so is that accounted for in the grade?
  18. Who is shown on the upper right photo at the bottom? Upper left is Aquaman?
  19. Have there been major improvements in bag design or are my old bags from the 80s and 90s still good enough?
  20. I'm holding out for Slapstick's big reveal personally!
  21. Back in the early 90s, I recall reading this was a "25 thousand dollar book.". I'm assuming that would have been for a gem copy, is that more or less inline with what prices were 30 years ago?
