  1. I saw this bio pic in a comic that featured art by Moores. I think he worked on Gasoline Alley as well.
  2. "I'm not dead yet. I think I'll go for a walk!" sounds like Monty Python...
  3. And did you know the female star was Sally Field's mother?
  4. I am thinking Dope Slaves and Perfect Crime 23 are both tough.
  5. I haven't seen that one or the other two issues. I only have three of Three.
  6. Not too long ago, I purchased a giant size Gift comic. It was without a cover but contents were in good shape. I think it was the second issue. I noticed that no contents are listed n the price guide or the Grand Comics Database. A short list of what I found was Captain Marvel 13 Spysmasher 6 Bulletman 7 Wow 7 and Whiz 32 I think my identification is correct based on another issue I have seen. I am wondering whether the contents changed. It seems the printing was specifically for Gift Comics since there was no issue ID on the contents page as there was for the other issues. What was in Gift 1 or Gift 3 ? Anyone have a copy?
  7. That comic ties in with the feature length cartoon "Fun and Fancy Free". It was also rebroadcast many times on Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color. I like to keep it in the Disney Four Color box with other works by Barks, such as, The Riddle of the Red Hat and Porky Pig of the Mounties and non-Barks items like Three Cabelleros and Song of the South.
  8. Do these go in the Bronze age box or the Copper age? I seem to have lost track of what the difference is after an extended vacation in the golden age.
  9. I like to think Captain America was helping with the landing in Guadalcanal and not up near Alaska. The attack in the Aleutians was supposed to be a diversion while the Japanese invaded Midway. You may be right but there is very little information to support either argument. Was there a text story that related to the cover?
  10. I disagree. The US troops already occupied the Aleutian Islands. I think it relates better to the Solomon Island offensive. "The Allies, to defend their communication and supply lines in the South Pacific, supported a counteroffensive in New Guinea, isolated the Japanese base at Rabaul, and counterattacked the Japanese in the Solomons with landings on Guadalcanal (see Guadalcanal Campaign) and small neighboring islands on 7 August 1942." and yes the cover was used with the annual but the content was Cap 18 and MM 42? in black and white.
  11. Is the price of Sensation and Wonder Woman comics going up? Are they selling more often? I noticed when the value of All Star 8 went up. But since then the price of other comics with Wonder Woman seem higher. Sensation issues like #3 in 1.8 condition are priced at $3-5K. So is it the movie effect or did the sleeper awaken?
  12. I mentioned before that it is actually a Lev Gleason publication featuring issues 22 and 24 of CDNP.
  13. and his work didn't need the extra color, I think.
  14. Here is a panel from Blue Ribbon 9 that was used as a template.
  15. Cooper was a wonderful talent but some of his covers (e.g. Blue Ribbon 10 and 11) tended to look similar. Perhaps that was the editors choice.
  16. I got one of those and an incomplete copy of Wow 9 at about the same time. Oh, and a copy of Captain Marvel 18. I was happy to get them before she became a new fan favorite.
  17. I thought the character could have been used a little more but The Vulture was similar and it had that don't trust old people story line that Steve probably didn't like.
  18. I don't think my issue 20 would grade as high as 16 or 19 but it has white pages and looks pretty good in the raw.
  19. I like that story and rate it with some of the other great Spiderman comics.
  20. I really like that cover but I also like a lot of the other Startling covers.
  21. Added Fighting Yank 14 to the pile. Not as flashy as the war covers but I am sure everyone was tired of seeing those bad guys after 6 of 7 years of constant fighting.
  22. Just because I think Kinstler was great. How about Phantom Witch Doctor?
