  1. Captain Fearless would have been move popular if he had a different hat.
  2. Everybody needs a box of Smash Comics so they can enjoy the Marksman, Midnight and The Ray.
  3. These are my favorites from the list. I eliminated those I didn't like and ranked them from top to bottom (top is #1). Phantom Lady 17 Seven Seas 6 Diary Secrets 26 Seven Seas 4 Giant Comics Editions 12 Authentic Police Cases 6 Cinderella Love 25 Teen-Age Temptations 2 Phantom Lady 18 Phantom Lady 23 Teen-Age Romances 14 Teen-Age Romances 32 Teen-Age Romances 43 True Love PictorIal 11
  4. Do you think Feldstein inked the splash or is it Orsin?
  5. I matched up a Shadow 8 with the original cover. Still looking for a Shadow 3 interior. The rest of these are all original interiors.
  6. Artist Profile published a feature about Reggie too.
  7. Richard's wife was posting pictures on Facebook. Water level was high around his house where the more precious things were, like family and friends.
  8. I sold my copy several years ago.
  9. For those of you that have never lived in Houston, the homes do not have a basement. However, the medical center buildings did have basements and years of medical samples were ruined during the flooding back in the seventies and eighties.
  10. I like that one but prefer the Cinderella Love with the car cover.
  11. I like that one. Bacillus never looked better...
  12. Was that a story which was reworked by Mad?
  13. Whether its westerns, romance or super-ladies, Baker art is always a delight to see. His horses are the best too.
  14. Sometimes the comic books were copied to make Big Little Books. BLB books sometimes had an extra cartoon that could be animated by flipping the pages. It would be nice to see all of those animations if someone has the time and energy to put them together.
  15. I have all four of those but your copies seem to be in better shape.
  16. I have been a Duck collector since I was a teenager. I enjoy finding those crossovers into different media. Barks story about the bill collectors was converted from a comic story in WDCS 74 to text in book format Donald and the Boys. I especially liked the part where the nephews defeated Bat Man. The art was redrawn a little to help it along but still good Barks.
  17. Robinson redid that Detective 69 cover in the group shot. I think everyone would have been happy if he added the Joker to the original.
  18. Tip Top is fun to collect. Early issues have Tarzan by Foster and Hogarth. Later issues have some Superheroes and they always have Li'l Abner.
  19. I thought I read about Blue Coal being treated with solvents to make it easier to burn or fill coal shutes. It seems kind of fuzzy. We needed a good furnace in Michigan. The winters were awfully cold and there was no bus service to the poor side of town. Yes it was a mile and a half walk to school uphill both ways when the temperature was 10 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. I grew up in Monroe which was the home of General Custer. I wonder whether his statue has been removed from the city park.
  20. We had a coal furnace in Michigan back in the fifties. A load of coal would last all winter. We banked the fire to keep the coals hot all night but every morning the fire had to be stoked and fed fresh coal. It was cold when the fire went out. Coal was delivered through a window in the basement. Chunks of coal varied in size from fist size to as big as your head. Hard coal like anthracite lasted longer and burned cleaner than soft coal.
  21. Is this issue scarce? Dave Anderson asked me about one of the Skull covers and thought it might be difficult to find but we couldn't decide which.
  22. A friend had his copy of Thing 10 graded and listed it at $500 for a 2.0. Does anyone think it is a fair price? My copy looks a little better and I wonder how high I should go. I'm still adding Thing issues to my collection but they all seem to be priced high or the bidding is furious.
  23. Just wondering whether there was any Baker art in that issue of Rage. Baker illustrated the Flogging story and the Girl Gangs in the issue below.
  24. I have collected a few issues of Flying Aces mostly because of the art by August Schomburg but I am fascinated by WWII aircraft. I like to imagine how the engines set up their 18 cyclinders. Some were in helical patterns and others were double radial engines.
