Press to 9.4 maybe 9.6 if the grader is skimming.

I honestly think it just depends on how the grader feels that day. I could see this getting a 9.8 but also a 9.4. If it were me, I wouldn’t crack it.

Difficult one. I got this book graded a while back and mine was worse off than this one. I would say 4.5 despite the spine ticks. The front cover and back cover present fairly well.

Acquired this slab for reasonable prices compared to CGC equivalents (I will not disclose exactly who this slab company is and I cropped out the label where I could, but I'm sure the astute crew you are will figure it out anyway).
I know some of my photos suck from glare and slab artifacts (I tried several angles and such), but what I am trying to gather is if it is worth it for me to de-slab, send to CCS/CGC as a standard sub.
When I bought it I had one viewpoint of the grade compared to the existing grade, but then when I got it in-hand, I was a little let down.
Appreciate any thoughts. THANK YOU!!
Some staple tears and heavy CB creases along the spine..
More of the same ...
Top-right corner not too bad..
Lower right corner has a nice CB crease:
Bottom and top edges look decent, not too wavy, but certainly I see some mild fluctuations that should press out.
The back I could not get without harsh glare.. sorry ... it looks like a lot of debris/dust in the slab, but at some angles they disappear, so I think the inferior slab product is the culprit.
Around a 7.0. From what I can see of the label, I can tell what the company this is. Whatever the grade is actually on that label, doc at least 0.5 if not 1.0 off it then you’ll have your CGC grade (most likely).

This is one of those books where I was very glad to be very wrong. Congrats!

1.0 This book looks it’s age. It’s amazing.

8.0. I don’t think the pictures don’t do the book justice.

1.0-1.5. That stain…ouch…

9.6 unless CGC is in a bad mood.

Good shot at 9.0+ post press.

6.5-7.0 That back is suspicious…

I swear something like this happed with 1 or 2 of mine too. A staple detachment that I have no recollection of being there when submitted. Did you do CCS pressing? From all I've been told, pressing a sq bound takes a little more finesse.
Same here, had a book that came back with cover completely detached but no notes or mentions of it at all.

I don’t think this book needs the press. 9.4+
All I see is one spine tick.

in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?

I just got a ton of these things graded. Nothing wrong with this one. Has a shot at 9.8.
