Topnotchman replied to lostboys's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Some of my March pre screen moderns are still scheduled for grading. -
CCS and Spine Roll Removal?
Topnotchman replied to Rhymenoceros's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Yes this can be improved with proper pressing, tweaking of the spine, and it should garner a grade bump also. -
What is a "Butterfly Flared Corner"?
Topnotchman replied to Matt1982's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Sounds like a bad press job, the book was downgraded accordingly. -

Turnaround times are estimates only and are NOT guaranteed. Orders cannot be cancelled once they have been received. Services can be added or upgraded any time before the submission has been graded for a $15 change fee per submission form. This fee is waived if only a special/custom label is added. Not sure how to interpret this, but its from the turn around page.

Exciting sales on Comic link, either the 9.8 is high, or the 9.6 is low. Maybe a little bit of both, although that 9.8 was exceptional.

I'm looking at the 32 edition of Overstreet which is 2002. That edition states #1 rare variant photo back cover, it has its own price line item along with 2 and 3. Both 2 and 3 do have variant back covers. CGC did not do its own research, comically it was almost a 50/50 split when they created labels with photo variant back cover, when all the copies were exactly the same. The final verdict is there has only been one back cover, including inside covers, no variant has proven to exist.

Is GPA and GoCollect accurate pricing tools for Grails
Topnotchman replied to Hollywood1892's topic in Comics General
Just did some comparison with Go Collect and GPA. I've noticed a lack of recorded sales with Go Collect, to the extent that the site is unreliable for current volatile market values. Searching completed Ebay sales would be more beneficial for Bronze to Modern books if you are not a current subscriber to GPA. This is a comparison of recorded sales since January 1st 2021 comparing GPA against Go Collect. Star Wars 1 9.8 9 sales GPA, 3 sales Go Collect Star Wars 1 9.6 44 sales GPA, 3 sales Go Collect Star Wars 1 9.4 32 sales GPA, 3 sales Go Collect Total 85 for GPA vs. 9 Go Collect Star Wars 43 9.8 10 sales GPA, 1 sale Go Collect Star Wars 43 9.6 10 sales GPA, 0 sales Go Collect Star Wars 43 9.4 2 sales GPA, 0 sales Go Collect Total 22 for GPA vs. 1 Go Collect Batman Beyond #37 9.8 9 sales GPA, 0 sales Go Collect Batman Beyond #37 9.6 1 sale GPA, 0 sales Go Collect Total 10 for GPA vs. 0 for Go Collect I have not been notified from Go Collect as a paying member with any press release that they are having trouble with recording sales. I will continue to subscribe to both sites, although I rely on GPA for more in depth accurate recording of sales. -
Will this crease press out completly
Topnotchman replied to migmtl76's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Submitting books with production flaws multiple times, tends to get different results. -
Will this crease press out completly
Topnotchman replied to migmtl76's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
CGC should be more consistent with proaction flaws like this, unfortunately they are not. -
Will this crease press out completly
Topnotchman replied to migmtl76's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
That looks like a corner impact that was pressed out and likely is reverting, otherwise not a very pretty 9.8. Not the same flaw as the Hulk 377. -
Is this cut/tear a grade crusher?
Topnotchman replied to nines's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Splitting multiple pages of paper signals brittle. -
Pressing a Book with a Detached Cover
Topnotchman replied to D84's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
It would present better by taking the spine roll out. It should also grade higher from cgc as long as the pages or cover do not get split. -
Thoughts on this ASM 3
Topnotchman replied to PINWHEEL's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
It’s common for this book to be missing a page. -
Silver age comics that are heating up
Topnotchman replied to rabidwolf's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Lower grade copies that have exchanged in 2020 have seen solid gains of 10-50%, which could prime the next 9.4 that hits the market. -
Why did I get a purple label?
Topnotchman replied to TappanZee's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Your not able to identify if the comic in the slab is your original book? -
Does this look like color touch to you ?
Topnotchman replied to migmtl76's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Yes that is amateur color touch, bleed through its called. -
Why did I get a purple label?
Topnotchman replied to TappanZee's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
The one book order was sent through the express tier. That rules out two books with switched labels during encapsulation. The notes are light bends to cover light creasing to cover light spine stress lines to cover small amount of color touch on top & left bottom back cover -
Why did I get a purple label?
Topnotchman replied to TappanZee's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
The color touch likely would be along the spine where white color breaks would be, it was filled in with some type of black ink or color. A B-1 would be multiple areas of color touch up. If you have other comics you bought at the same time spidy 298-299 301, you could take a close look at the spines on those comics, along with opening the cover to look inside along the spine and staples to see if anything has bleed through on those books. Slowly run your finger down the spine and if there are any areas of irregular smoothness, look closely for a touch up, which would be a flat color verse a shiny black. -
