Is the grail you’re after rising in price at a significant rate as well? If it isn’t, I’d let the X-books cook a while longer.
Not sure to be honest. I never really considered picking my grail book up because it's been out of reach. However if I sell the run I can pick it up.
(For reference see my "holy grail?" thread. It's Sub-Mariner #1, CGC 5.5 currently listed at $26k.)

No, don't really need the money for anything. I would just take the proceeds and purchase my holy grail. You hit the nail on the head with my thoughts; I think it might be hard to justify hanging on to them eventually...especially if the sold prices start to drop.

Do you need the money for something urgently? Are you retired/ready to travel/something similar, etc?
With the way the entire X-Men run has exploded and keeps going up, I can see it being tough to justify hanging on to it much longer.
I'm only halfway through collecting the silver and bronze age run, le sigh

What an awesome story, congrats! Procrastination for me is a bad thing; for you it paid off handsomely!

Just to get it out the way, I am a collector first, not a speculator. However, with my thought being "I have to sell it at some point" and "strike while the iron is hot", I am seriously considering selling my X-Men 1-250 run. The comic book (selling) market seems to be at an all time high, especially when it comes to X-Men. Prices realized seem to be going up, up...
So is now a good time to part with the run? Will prices keep going up even after all the movie spec? Or will the bottom drop out at some point here in the near future?
Your thoughts, advice and suggestions are welcome!

I posted a few pics here in this thread, (Page 3) but I've found a couple Superman 1's, All Star 8, an X-Men 1 in VF (Graded later as an CGC 8.0) Archie 1, All American 61 in VF, dozens of Timelys most every Silver age key at one time of another from peoples homes or deals in parking lots.
I attached a couple pics also.
This is stuff that fantasies are made of.

In all seriousness, it took me a couple of months to pay Bedrock. To do that I had to decimate my full run AF15 and ASM 1-100 run just to pay for it.
I can imagine! One of the grailiest grails ever.

I know that the term "holy grail" means something different to everyone. Back when I started re-collecting comics my grail was X-Men #1. Then it became Hulk #1, then AF #15 and so on.
Now I think I'm starting to redefine what grail means, at least to me. My definition of the term is now something like "a book I REALLY want but will more then likely never be lucky enough to own". My "grail" is below. What's yours?

Man that is sweet! Not to be picky, but how did the grades shake out? That iron fist 14 is nice looking..... nice to get some silver age, but that copper is looking sweet!
Actually, the Iron Fist is probably mid-grade. I know, hard to tell from the picture. This showcase though is probably in 8.0, and that Tales to astonish 44 is a good mid-grade 4.0 to 5.0. I am keeping the Showcase in the tales to astonish and probably selling all the rest lol.

Hello fellow collectors! I want to kind of "re-introduce" myself and tell you a little about my new comic book Facebook page, Tropic Lightning Comics.
My name is Tom and I have been a member of the boards for quite a while and find it to be extremely insightful and full of helpful, knowledgeable people! I have used the boards for a little bit of buying and selling (see kudos link) but mainly have used eBay and Facebook Marketplace. I recently created a business page on Facebook, "Tropic Lightning Comics" with the intent to eventually sell my "blue-chip" books when I retire here in a few years.
With that in mind I'm trying to make my page work for me, ie "likes", comments, shares, and ultimately sales! I am always adding to the page but if you use Facebook I invite you to the page (link below), check it out, give a like or two, and if you see something you like message there and tell me you are from the forum and get a "friends and family" discount!
Than ks all and enjoy your day!
