and it became required after Jul1 midnight, your time?

Here in NYC, it is not required, just recommended.

OH MY...!!  I sincerely apologize to everyone for creating such an uproar, I think I see the mistake now (my mistake for trusting what ebay reps have told me)!

There is a difference in "required" and "recommended". You are right, that is recommended not, required. I called ebay literally 4 times and 3 separate reps told me the same thing, only graded copies allowed. So understandable I got nervous,  I just don't think they ever understood my question to begin with. We will see what happens on 7/12 but I'll bet we ate good.

At this point, the “required” field for condition is the vague “Acceptable/Good/Very Good/ Like New/New” field and other grading specifics are optional. I just started a new listing on my phone app. Hopefully that doesn’t change...

But the "professional grader" is also required. That's where all this started.

Maybe (if anything) you must state a grade... even though 99+% don’t know how.

In the required item specifics they ask what grading company, CGC, CBCS PGX. If it's raw then you obviously don't choose that. However, it's a required field and they do not give an "ungraded" option.

I encourage people to call them and see if they get an answer different than the ones I got. Man, I hope so!

That can’t be right.  No way are raw books no longer permitted on EBay

I agree, I feel the same. However I have called them 3 separate times, all have said the same thing. A supervisor is supposed to call me back within 24 hours as they are "looking in to it ".

This all stems from receiving a message from them that you need to update all listings or they cannot be renewed due to new changes. That update is stating which grading company graded your book. Well  if it's raw then there obviously is no grading company but they do not give an option for raw.

I got this message today. I haven't yet figured out which specifics will be required and which will be recommended.

When I click the list of collectibles effected, I can't find comic books, but it's a long list - not in alphabetical order - so I may have missed it.

Actually I just posted something rather shocking on this over in the official ebay thread, you will want to read it.

  7. What the?! Have you all heard this?! This literally shocks me, it's like ebay is trying their hardest to lose sales!

In July they will now require ALL COMICS TO BE GRADED IF YOU WANT TO SELL ON EBAY! Yes, you heard that right. I called them to ask about the "professional grader" requirement because mine is just a raw copy. Effective soon, all comic books must be graded in order to be listed on ebay. Furthermore, if you have listings that is currently missing this, you will not be able to renew unless this is filled out.Screenshot_20210630-103415_eBay.thumb.jpg.ee82661f29e1f681f0f6c2801280d179.jpg

I sell mostly low grade books on ebay. I sold a lot of coverless ASM comics (around 15) for $50. After the guy pays, he asks me what happened to the covers. I tell him I have no idea as I had bought these coverless.

A week later he sends me a message saying he received the books and they don't have any covers and he wants to return them for his money back.

I replied to him that I do not understand....what was he expecting? My listing said multiple times they are coverless and all the pictures show coverless comics. He replies saying why would he spend money on books that have no covers and are worthless.

Anyway, I am allowing him to send back the comics because it is fruitless to discuss it further with him and my head hurts trying to understand the non-understandable.

    People suck.

These are Chinese and -- I think -- are from mainland China in the '80s. Unfortunately, I don't have answers to most of your questions. In particular, I have no idea if they are localizations of existing US works, or if they're entirely novel. I do know that the bottom two books pictured (with the white background) are part of a series that includes at least four more. I don't know if the top comic is part of that series or a different one, although they're similar enough to imply they're from the same publisher at the least.

I know there were also some TMNT comics released in Taiwan alongside the first TMNT film, but I'm 100% sure these aren't those. There are also Japanese manga adaptations of the Turtles, but they're also more recent (and these are not Japanese).

Awesome, thank you for the detail

My 1 to 5 was easy (presented alphabetically).  There are about 20 comics that could fill the 6 to 10 slots.

It was just too tough to narrow down the next group.  Can't do it.

This reminds me of a couple of years ago. I bought a collection of graphic novels and trade paperbacks from a guy; his dad used to work for a print shop back in the day that Marvel contracted to do their work. He said his dad would come home all the time with these to give to his son.

The collection had around 15 the New Mutants GN, around 20 of these Captain Marvel, hundreds of trade paperbacks...so much fun to go through!

AVOID sunlight (direct or indirect), incandescent and fluorescent light. Absolutely will bleach colors. Even UV blocking plastic will still allow some UV though.

Jury is still out on LED, I believe they are safe though.

Takes me out then; all my lighting in my cave is fluorescent. Thanks for the tip!
