Many thanks for the feedback. I guess I need to just sit back and hope (pray?) one of his completed commissions/illustrations pops up for sale. (I now have saved searches on CAF, Heritage and Comiclink but pls feel free to PM me if you come across anything on the secondary market...)

You should put on on Comic Art Tracker as well.

This thread’s first post’s hidden text might be useful.

Behold the rarest piece you're likely to see posted here. A heritage auction lot that sold at the starting bid price! It's the logo design for the Doctor Fate series from the late 80s to the early 90s that was a continuation of the 4-issue mini-series. They're both a great read and suggest you give them a read. It was used for the first 24 issues before being changed to the later logo design which lasted to the end of the series at issue #41. Put a dollar watch bid on it since I thought it was interesting and ended up winning it.

You might consider reaching out to Todd Klein to see if he knows the designer. Todd is active on Facebook

Re: Can anyone offer a suggestion

Yes, if you have an iPhone, do this when you need to photograph art and can’t scan it.

    1. Start Notes
    2. Create a new note
    3. Click on the camera icon
    4. Choose “Scan document”
    5. Touch the button once it is framed.

Notes scanner will square the image and do some light balancing. It’s almost as good as a scanner.

  4. Evrery thing I know can be found in the "hidden text" in the first post on the thread called Pricing Comic Art - 2023 Edition. I strongly advise two actions:

    1. Ignore the offers you get through the direct messages supported by this board.
    2. Read the advice on that thread especially the part that suggests learning about the market.

Happy to take questions, accept comments, and listen to concerns.

I wonder if it's worthwhile to go to San Diego, skip trying to get into the con, but attend this dinner?  Something to ponder...

I was in LA on business during SDCC a number of year ago and heard about the dinner. I drove down for it got there early enough to wander around bit near the convention center as the artists were leaving and got to see some friends. Then walked to the dinner a saw a few I knew and met more that I had not met before including Brian.

I thought it was well worth the drive (and the stop going on I5 by Customs and Immigration).

  6. I'll expand on my "yep." My collection is broad - deliberately so. I like lots of artists/character combos and story lines, but once I get an example, I'm pretty well done and drop out of the bidding pool. I might "upgrade," but it doesn't happen often. I suspect I'm not the only one.
