  1. Common sense says to put your comic up against the shiny side creating less friction between the two materials in the bag/mylar.
  2. Kudos to carcrawfordfan for sending me a few nice G.I. Joes!
  3. Kudos to Fay for owning up despite her tragic situation! I hope things get better and that she'll still get the opportunity to purchase the books from those two sellers when able.
  4. At what point does eBay stop taking new accounts linked to his mailing address? Seems like he is going to end up being too large a headache for them to ignore eventually.
  5. Kudos to joker-fish for shipping a nice copy of Kingdom Come #2! Thankfully he wrapped the book with wax paper because somehow half of the actual package seemed to have been dipped in oil (or some similar lubricant), soaking everything except for the slab inside. Phew, that was a close one!
  6. Yes, but in a slightly different context . . . anywho, let me rowse the rabble I never even pay attention to the announcement thread as it's so useless to me. Guess there are a lot of sales I'm missing out on.
  7. Kudos to blazingbob for selling me two G.I. Joes, one slabbed and the other a nicely graded raw! Also, I would like to thank our resident Greek, Nik. He used my ratty GA book in the grading contest and didn't complain one iota about sending it into CGC for slabbing. It's kind of a priceless thing to me... Thank you, sir.
  8. Arrrgh. I'm looking for that one. Very nice!
  9. My favorite: 'You... are a madman! When you stole that cow, and your friend tried to make it with the cow. I want to party with you.'
  10. Thanks to Worldsbestcomics I have continued the collecting disease that is known as the X-Men, particularly issue #141. Thank you sir, for prolonging my virulent journey!
  11. Welcome to the boards, teachbug! People of good character and repute are always welcome here.
  12. Tell me something. Did your parents spray you as a child for "protective purposes"?
  13. Not taking any of this seriously until we get the name of this grader and what credentials he has if we don't know him.
  14. He looks like he's made of marshmallows!
  15. Steve Summers( the director of Gi joe) 3 Mummy movies made more money then the 3 X-men movies combined. It will outgross the first x-men movie. There are more GI JOE fans then X-men fans. Let me get this straight....... there are MORE Joe fans than X-Men fans?!?!?!?!?!? Look at the sales figures from the mid 80's until '94 when Joe got shelved..... Uncanny X-men ALWAYS beat G.I. Joe That must be why the original Marvel Joe series got shelved..... because there were more Joe fans than X-Men fans Listen, I love G.I. Joe as much as anyone but there is no way in Cobra-La there are more Joe fans I fear the G.I. Joe movie is going to be like Episode 1....... with all the build-up and hype, there will probably be no way in hell that it can live up to expectations I hope for a good movie, but once again Hollywood will probably find a way to clusterspoon it I am talking about the big picture.I will bet GI JOE the movie does better boxoffice then X-men the movie 1.Toys outsell comics easilly.GI JOE is mainstream compared to the X-men.I guess we will find out come August. btw I always thought Snake Eyes was so much cooler than Wolverine and could kick his butt But it's not 1985 anymore... But I think his point is that there was a fanbase bigger than the X-Men's at the time (and up until around 1985, G.I. Joe did routinely outsell the mutants). Those same fans probably will go see the movie out of pure nostalgia.
  16. Is it just me or does the fellow on the left resemble our current president?
  17. Big time kudos to Brian (Foolkiller) for shipping me a nicely graded copy of ASM #46! Muchas gracias once again.
  18. There're 3 planned? Can I read about this somewhere? That's pretty good news if the studio is committed to all 3. Makes for possibly more thought spent on how to do these very well.
  19. I like moonknight as much as the next guy.. but Suydam REALLY dropped the ball on this cover... Agreed. That's his worst artwork that I've seen by far. Other ones shown in this thread put that one to shame.
  20. I agree with Sharon. I've been in some mixed threads that got me to consider books that aren't normally in my collecting focus. Keep the forum as is. Variety is the spice of life.
  21. I think there are a TON of closet Joe fans. Whip out a #21 for sale with fairly reasonable pricing and everybody runs as fast as they can to the sign. I've never seen one last longer than 30 minutes here. If the movie bombs, expect all those fans to stay in the closet while caressing the books hoping for a remake or until the title gets the full credit it deserves as one of the best 80's books.
  22. That can't be an easy task lately. What venues did you use to get this accomplished? My more productive venue was......$$$$ No, I meant WHERE. Bought a NM run off of ebay for $450. Have about 50 9.6/9.8 candidates heading to CGC this week. To be honest, ebay is still the best place foe certified Joes, you just have to bid appropriately. I've literally seen the same Joe issue (with the same certified grade) go for double what it did just a week prior on ebay, so timing and patience are key. I've been working eBay, too since no certified copies (besides #1) ever show up here and rarely on any websites. Are you going to be selling any of those books once you get them back from CGC? If so, please let me know when and where. I'm about a fourth of the way through my project, so obviously I've got a ways to go.
  23. Yeah, people out there are picking the raw issues clean. Makes it really tough right now. I'm hoping I will make a lot of headway at the Cactus Con in January before I send in some big submissions trying to get more graded NM-up copies into circulation. That can't be an easy task lately. What venues did you use to get this accomplished? My more productive venue was......$$$$ No, I meant WHERE.
  24. yes, the UPC bar code exists for these. If you go to Mile High Comics web site, you can see them (thumbs u Thanks. I am having a real hard time finding these. NM copies at that. Looks like this 3 issue run will be the toughest part of my project to complete.
