I think that's why, when there's that bunker scene in "Leave the World Behind" and you see the wall of DVD's, CD's and Physical Media of all kinds it provides the audience with an unintended and unexpected sense of relief and comfort. Because rentals and subscriptions and clouds never really have the same permanence when it's really boiled down.

I saw reviews that were underwhelmed by the ending.

I LOVED it , I’d so find that McMansion with a theater setup and hundreds of Blu-ray’s and games. 🤓

    unrelated… what’s Burkey’s address again?

I've recently received both Dave Watcher and Paul Azaceta commissions from them with no problem.

However, I'm still waiting on one Werther Dell'Edera commission from them.

I have no idea what is going on with them but it doesn't appear to look good that all of these guys are leaving.    I guess we will find out soon enough?

Did your commission appear in Werther’s January Insta post ? It may already be done…

Has any received or know anyone who has received any art from them in the past few months?

They had their HUGE annual sale recently in Nov/December , I’m pretty sure I saw collectors post art they received.

My latest order arrived in August, a Werther DellEdera sketch.

I just reached out to Werther, he didn’t go into details, but will try to deliver  my other pre-paid commission.

Who did the art on this book ?

The Golden book (with cassette) is Al Bigley pencils and Mike DeCarlo inks.

Michael, Here is my animation from Joker’s Favor  ♦️🃏

Finally, here’s how Harley’s “first appearance” appears in the BTAS coloring book.

It’s always been attributed to Bruce, but who knows if it was re-inked for the style guide, similar to Gal’s published pieces.  Her pose and the HQ logo are straight from the guide

TL;DR I prefer the Comic appearance over everything in most cases.

It’s a tough call. I personally go after the first comic appearance myself.

For example, Jim Cheung’s Young Avengers actually appear in the Marvel Young Guns Sketchbook as concept art. I own several pieces from that issue but place much great importance on first issue of the series in which they appear.

Something like Harley Quinn is difficult because she appears on the ad, the. Animated cels, then a book/tape combo, then Batman Adventures #12. I couldn’t afford the ad that sold last year but would have been a buyer had it gone for much less. I own several cels from Joker’s Favor (her first animated episode) along with the actual sketch art used to make the cels. BA12 is still going to be more valuable than the cels but likely less than the ad in this particular case because of her origination in animation. She is really sort of the one-off character that gets very convoluted.

Do you have the Harley animation art posted anywhere?
I have only one cel drawing from the episode

The Jokers Favor animation art I’ve seen sell, goes for way less than BA12 art , or even her DCU 1st appearance in Batman Harley Quinn. Which I sort of get, there are hundreds of cels with her from the episode. (If they all survived)

… but is it mostly because more people collect comics & comic art than animation art. (Or just have deeper pockets?)

The Harley Quinn grail for me would be the Bruce Timm early version that appears in black and white , in the coloring book & style guide. The others from the golden book, or animation, came much after (and are even further removed from her creators, who had no hand in drawing)

Good to hear! I had no issue covering the fee myself... Cam is doing this through Mark using a list of prices they were selling pieces for at shows- so that is the final amount they are asking for.

    -James

I too ordered pages back in February , and they just arrived this weekend!

I was so thrilled when James mentioned this opportunity, that I didn’t mind waiting for the order to be finalized. Unlike some reps who throw a fit when you ask for an update, Mark was always pleasant to respond.  (And he’s not making a cent from this!)

The wait actually worked to my advantage , because my final payment wasn’t finalized until after my CAF Live sales (talk about timing!)

Also I was asked to cover PayPal fees, so the Kennedy’s receive their full payment.  This was not a problem for me, as their pricing is already very reasonable.

And lastly , a big Thanks to Mark for helping the Kennedy’s with their art sales, organizing requests, and inventorying  art for them.

I recall seeing this page shopped around (and sold) several times.  That wasn't helping the value.

But hopefully it finds a permanent home now, because those are some nice closeups of B & R.

This McNiven art from Return of Wolverine in the auction is many things at the same time: The cover for the Director Cuts, the cover for the 2nd print of the first issue, it is a splash page and the first page of the whole run at the same time.

This is only original inks, no McNiven on the page, correct?
I thought McNiven was completely digital by this point

Congratulations on a lovely splash. Budd seems to be doing fewer and fewer stories these days, so his really good pages are becoming more and more expensive. You found a beaut.

I'm a huge Budd fan, and was blown away by the page (and auction result).

I wish Budd would do auctions again (he did for a short time years ago), so he could get in on those profits.  Or even a kickstarter, which might be a possibility.

Everything he works on now is arranged by his rep, so that art is presold (as pinups or covers) to his commissioners.
I keep hoping someone commissions a new story from him, so fans can see new interior work.

  10. I had some success with my 2020 goals...

Milo Manara - a published strip from Kama Sutra
J Scott Campbell - a vintage sketch of Danger Girl
David Mazzucchelli - Batman from 2007

These goals are new or carry overs to 2021
    Richard Corben
    Frank Quitely
    Batman published art
Bill Sienkiewicz page or commission with Batman or Joker or Catwoman Alessandro Barbucci Catwoman commission
Kelley Jones page or commission with Batman or Catwoman
Ditko page (likely from Valiant or another later project)

    and especially
    - sell more than I buy
    - stay focused on my goals, and review goals before any purchases.
