When Albert Moy opened Timm's commission list last month in advance of SDCC I jumped on it immediately and asked for Clea. I got denied! I had been waiting some time to get a shot at Timm and am sad that is didn't happen. For the $1800 pricetag I guess I could have flown out to SDCC and begged Bruce for it instead!

    Damn,

did Albert let you suggest multiple characters for Bruce to pick from ?  Or was it a flat NO

I wasn't clear. Are the sketches/commissions reasonable priced? For example I know Adam Hughes brought some commission type pieces with him. Were they of a reasonable price?

Adam's commissions were prebooked,  his prices were:

    5.5 x 8.5 inch (bust)  $1000

    9 x 12 inch (3/4 figure) $2000

    12 x 18 inch $4000

And comicartfans.com have many of his listings in their "Hot Auctions" Section. How can whoever is picking those auctions not tell that they are fake. They are only making it worse by featuring the auctions. Anyone knows who runs that at CAF?

You can just contact CAF, Bill Cox will let you know.

I've asked about this before with other forgeries, and CAF hot auctions are automated.  They don't manually choose the auctions.

Curious to know how much the Frank Miller sketch covers cost at the cons? Does Frank do these on a whim and doesn't look to pocket much or are these set up in advance.

Seems like most are setup in advance through his agent, or they bring a bunch of predone and you can choose.

His quick Batman head sketch runs from 250-500, but occasionally he still sneaks in a free one.

I got 4 from Mignola, so I was content. I also almost pulled the trigger on something from Scott Eder and will likely follow up in a few weeks and pick that up.

Feel free to share pics in the Mignola art thread :foryou:

Doh! They removed the Dave Stevens Birthday card art from the auction. One of the pieces I was going after. Wonder why? Was the pre-live bidding price not high enough for the seller? I hate when they do that just before the end of auctions.

Do sellers have the ability to withdraw art, if concerned that it won’t sell high? I hope not.

Albert had it for 10k, earlier as I recall. Would it have gone that high?

Be really careful with Bruce Timm art, in general. There are what I consider to be a lot of fakes out there. And that includes a particular Harley Quinn sketch, if it is the one I am thinking of. It doesn't look right.

What fakes have you seen? I’m sure headsketches are sometimes faked, but are there specific pieces we should avoid?

As for the OP, just wait till the California shows, when reputable dealers buy and then resell his sketches.

To give you some idea on prices, Bruce sells his headsketches for $100 and Albert sells b&w prelims for about $350-750.

  8. Hi @NicoV

I love using the comic art tracker, and one of my favorite features is the New art by Source screen.

The screen displays each source, with a "newly listed" number.  But when I look for the details, many of the sources return return no results.  Like right now Illustration Art Gallery says 69 newly listed, and Comic Art Store has 33 newly listed.  But when go to View the recently listed art, the New comic art screen shows no results.  Is this a known issue?

I am using Chrome (on iphone X)

    Thanks
