  1. Dave explained it.

I too have a blueline cover, which is 100% original.  There is a b&w and color version too, so the colors were not over the inked version.

Also, I had a b&w piece that was xerox, with marker enhancements.  Then a color version also existed (1800 commission), based on my b&w.

so I think Bruce is pretty free with his process (from lightboxing to photocopying).  Plus I heard he doesn't like to discuss his process when confronted with questions.

Doctor Strange 55 is probably one of the most influential single Marvel issues by any artist in the last 35 years. So many of the talented creators working today have pointed to this issue as their spark of inspiration. It's in the top 5 single issues of several artists. And for Golden it's at the top of the heap, along with Avengers Ann 10 and his early 'Nam work (along with a few others) that really cemented him a force of creative nature.

I heard of some artist (Buzz?) that buys every copy of Doctor Strange 55, he runs across.  I figured that would be $$$

  3. I am bummed to see that Heritage is going to charge Sales Tax on Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, and Pennsylvania - starting August 1st

    :tonofbricks:

As a PA resident, this will seriously impact my bidding.

How do you guys in states already paying sales tax (in TX, NY?) deal with this? Do you take it into consideration while bidding?

I used to post only on CAF (there was no 2DG when I started) but nowadays I prefer 2DG.  Mostly because of the quality of the images you can post and the zooming function! I still use CAF because of the contacts.

A small example: (I choose Jeremy Bastian because zooming in on his art has certainly an added value).

    Cursed Pirate Girl commission:https://www.2dgalleries.com/art/jeremy-bastian-skeleton-cpg-102841

btw to zoom on 2DG you have to click several times)!

    (compare with CAF:http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1485719)

I thought it was started for French art.  Does it have an easy interface for uploading new posts? (one of the key things Bill's site is lacking IMO)

Do people comment much on 2DG posts?

Pretty much 90% of my stuff on CAF was taken with Camscanner.  Decent app if you can get the right lighting in.

Yeah, the lighting is key, so the art appears one tone.  You don't want to be standing over it, casting a shadow when you take the pic.

  6. I haven’t opened my scanner since downloading CamScanner. It works great on my iPhone and the artists I’ve shared it with were blown away. Perfect for taking “pictures” of art during a con, or scanning large art.

  7. I would have inquired with the seller, asked as many questions as possible to authenticate it (and him).

I bought an authentic Bob Kane on ebay a while ago, so they do exist.  And the seller was not an art collector, just an acquaintance of his family (wife).  He drew art for anybody, because he was so proud of his creation.

IMO the Hard Cover one's are fine, worst case they were done under Bob's supervision in a studio , based on templates he provided ghost artist(s).  Best case, he drew them all (unlikely).  But - they are authentic "Bob Kane" art.

I wonder what David's thoughts are concerning an Artist edition hopefully he is in agreement. Issue 26 would be a great example of Ditko's work andI could see it selling well. Does anyone know David's forum name?

On Felix's podcast, it sounds like David is a huge supporter of the Artists edition format, contributing to several in the past.

Now, where do I get tickets to tour the Mandel museum of comic art....hm

Is this the final published version of Mignola's work being offered?

Was this question ever satisfactorily answered in a previous thread?

Are the STATS original or are they DONNELLY BROS.?

Which of our FAVORITE original comic book art dealers had the 'unpublished' verison? Was it BURKEY??...

    Stats are not original.

They are after- production, and were pasted on! WTF?

I've also used an architect's dry cleaning pad just to get some more of that rubber debris out of it. Then I work that around the goo with the Magic Rub. (I'm just going to set that one up, if anyone wants to knock it down. :nyah:)

    :kidaround:

Thanks for the details.  I have a 50 year old page with a replacement panel taped in (on the back), the front does not look very effected, but I'm afraid being in a new climate (I've only had the page a year) may cause further deterioration

Would you recommend I leave it be, or try the cleaning method?

Newer Scotch tape is not awful if you go slow. But old masking tape is the WORST! And a pox on all artists who use it. It goes completely gooey. You have to heat it with a hair dryer, lift it gently, and then use a Magic Rub eraser to ball up the residue and work it off the Bristol onto a piece of copy paper which you then toss.

Is this the eraser you use?  I want to try your technique on some pages.   hm

  12. Twice I've done the Chiaroscuro Studios Yearbook kickstarter (through Catarse.me) , the art rewards (Ivan Reis, Eddy Barrows, etc.) were so affordable and on time.

I've always had luck with Jim Balent's Kickstarters.  He and Holly GoLightly deliver the rewards and stretch goals promptly.  Art rewards were much nicer than the examples he showed.

Also I just received Mitch Bryd's kickstarter, again roughly on time.  Anything less than six months late is good for me.

I initially regretted passing on Kaluta's kickstarter - but years later, I'm glad I did.  The wait for my friends is killer.
