I'll end with two more. No back cover scans for these. Can't find them now. If you need to see them PM me. Strange Tales 28 -What a cover. An Atlas Precode gem and definition of Classic! Superb linework creates amazing energy between these two characters. -This is a lower grade copy that has the cover seperated and split in two. Still a fantastic book that looks great in a Mylar. $400 shipped
-
Weird Terror 7 -Classic cover. Best from this run IMO Look at the deranged expression and garish coloring on that face. Comic Media at its Precoderiffic best and a Don Heck Masterpiece! -Lower grade. Scan makes this book look like it was under the furnace with the poor dude getting shoveled in. Book still can be read no problem. Solid lower grade copy. $80 shipped

Nerv, Sorry about this. What a horrible situation. Having that trust broken hurts. Hope everything works out well and you get some cooperation in getting the books back.

Strange Adventures 52 Amazing cover with a wonderful story about oversized birds taking over the world. What's not to love here? -Lower mid grade copy with some visible creases. Note: 2.5 inch tear in bottom of back cover. Other than that, solid book that can be read easily and looks killer in a Mylar. -Pink cover! SOLD $90 shipped SOLD
-
Strange Adventures 51 Great copy here of a harder to find issue. The few copies I see are lower grade. This one here is in the Upper Fine range with VF potential. Covers are smooth with excellent color. Just a clean, bright copy with superb artwork and stories. This goes in my top ten list of Strange Adventures Covers and always gave me a Twilight Zone vibe. SOLD $290 shipped SOLD

We can figure out international if need be. -Offers and questions welcome through PM. Thanks for looking! -Christian

Well done Jayman! I sold my Venus 17 and 18 awhile back and currently have the 19. It's a great little run. Enjoy and congrats! If you don't end up cracking them out, reprints are available. Cartoonists Calamity is a gem of a story if you haven't already read it. Thats some collection you've got growing! Congrats again.

What a great sales thread. Some amazing books. Thank you for sharing them. As with many other collectors here, I love the descriptions and history you added. And I agree with your assessment of comic art not getting the attention it deserves. It still remains an underrated medium. That said, it's not over yet! ? Comics will continue to shine to those of us that understand, create, and collect them. In time their appreciation will spread. -
Congrats on this. One of the best issues from the run.

Love this book. Says everything I love about these Precode horror books. Ajax publishing at its finest. The classic panel in there is from a beheading by paper cutter story I believe. congrats! A wise pickup.

Artboy, I'm sure you'll come up with some wicked stuff. You've got talented hands. Post once they are decorated. -
The Undead Thread: Pre-Code Horror

Some new books this week. I was finally able to add decent copies of this pair to my Precode collection. I've always seen this cover set as a two part story. Issue 38: "Witch is Captured!" Issue 39: : "The Witch will Hang!" Both covers feature some beautiful Lee Elias linework. The witches hands on 38 really grab me (pun intended). Very rhythmic drawing, lots of energy, and garish wild coloring adds to the visual frenzy. Regarding stories, I found the ones in issue 39 better than 38. I also included a pic of one of my short box paintings. I decorate each of my comic boxes with a portrait in either watercolor or ink. Usually it's monsters or a character related to the issues within. -Christian -

Agreed! Purple Claw gets so little respect but I like this short three issue series. I have the Church copy of the number one. Not too high grade, just a Fine I think, but it's the only Mile High book in my collection at the moment. -
Ok. Here's my copy. Bought it here on the boards years ago. Also included pics of the cool story from inside the issue. Marked as a favorite of mine based on the scratchy strange art alone. Also check out the lower right panel in the splash boy is reading a previous issue of Beware, the one with the mushroom cloud and shrunken head. Comics about making comics.

Agreed. And this one has a Killer story in it! An author writes horror stories and finds real inspiration by meeting real monsters...some nice weird art I recall... I've got it marked as a favorite. Congrats.
