  1. Love the FH discussion in this thread the past couple weeks. We've talked about some great Planets, cowgirl romance, ghost , and others. Let's change it up a little and talk about Rangers. Rangers have some great covers, especially in the first 40 or so. This one below is Rangers 2. It's tied for the highest graded at 6.0 with only one other graded I think A 3.0. I've thought for a while now that Rangers 2 is the Planet 15 of the Rangers run. I'd love to hear some thoughts by others who collect FH and Rangers on this opinion. If this one isn't the "toughest" to locate, which one is ? Another interesting level to my thought about being similarly tough to Planet 15 is that Planet 15 is pictured on the back cover of Rangers 2.
  2. I really like 16 too, it has an awesome 'Mars God of war' cover, a great long running story line. This is the only cover featuring him. This book is also sneaky difficult to locate. Not as elusive as 17,18, or 19 but difficult. Here is mine...
  3. I would assume that it is not just the #1 that has not yet been graded, but probably the entire run has not been yet been graded. No real point in grading something from my point of view, unless you are planning to sell it. Also not sure why you believe the Planet #1 might be restored simply because the Fight #1 had been restored. Especially since the entire Planet run, including issue #1, was pre-sold as a complete set and has basically stayed that way over the very few owners it has had. The Fight #1 most likely did not follow this same path into the marketplace. When I inquired about purchasing them, they gave me cgc grades for a majority of the set. I wondered , "why would you grade a majority of these with cgc and not grade the most valuable/important one in the group?"... Hence my question of I wonder if it is R. Many reasons why it might not be graded, but this is one reason that is plausible.
  4. Two nice books Wings 94, has so much going on. Fantastic cover. It is also one of few FH books where the girl in distress is looking at the reader (another is Planet 34).
  5. As far as I know the run is still essentially intact. I was just looking at the Church list rob_react posted, which is based mostly, I think, off Chuck's initial catalog. Only one low-grade Planet is listed. I assume that means they were sold off pre-catalog. Burrel Rowe bought the run from Chuck in the very first purchase out of the collection. Burrel then blended those into his existing collection. There were a handful of his books that he felt were better than the Churches. He sold that complete run to Geppi in 1982 or so. Fischler acquired it from Geppi. Fischler still has them. I inquired about purchasing the run from him several years ago but he would never give me a price. One thing I found interesting was that at the time , and I assume it is still the same, the #1 was not cgc graded. I have always wondered if the church planet 1 was restored in similar fashion as the church Fight #1.
  6. As far as I know the run is still essentially intact. What I was thinking, but thanks for the coroboration. I have wondered if we might eventually see them all in a CC auction... It would be cool. If they were ever sold, that is the most likely avenue. From what I hear, don't hold you breath that it will happen any time soon.
  7. I've never seen that cover. Very nice. Wertham could have written a chapter about the interior stories. Super nice book
  8. You are right, fight does have some great interior art. Here are a couple pages from Fight 32
  9. Fight 37 is one of my favorites. Seniorita rio is a great story line and her few covers are cool. Here is my copy. Only one I have ever seen so Red.
  10. All courtesy of the 6th Street collection. Too bad the lawyers get the rest. You got to figure the rest will surface one of these days since the family's interest in the books appears to be strictly financial. The original broker wasn't holding out much hope, but I'm patient. I am so lost about what you all are talking about, I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing A collection that surfaced a few years ago after the OO died. Some of them were put up for sale, but then a dispute arose in the family when it became clear how much the books would sell for. The unsold books were pulled from the market in the wake of a lawsuit. The shop owner who was selling the books has, last I heard, washed his hands of it. I would guess, though, that eventually the family will arrive at some resolution and the remaining books will come to market. The collection included a nice run of Baker romance books. Some of those are among the books that were pulled before they were sold. Wish I'd moved faster when I had the chance! Oh, I understand now. Thanks for catching me up

  12. That is one tough book... Especially in grade
  13. I have a 9.6 to match....any other 9.6's out there?
  14. I agree, always cool to see what Planets are on the boards
  15. What is your definition of "high grade" as far as planets are concerned ? Anyone else's thoughts on this question are welcome too
  16. Nice copy. This book is the classic example of a book not extremely difficult to locate, but super difficult to find in higher grade( as mentioned 5.0 and above). A condition super rarity and almost impossible to locate in 8.0 or higher. As flex said, this is on the short list of "best" or Classic FH covers.
  17. I don't see any flaws, looks like a winner to me
  18. Gorgeous copy Jason, that blue is spectacular. Here is my copy: He is mine. A lot of FH people chase the Reds on the cover, but when the blues are bold they can be just as pretty
