  1. I do know he drew some for Doll Man quarterly (Quality) and did a story in Doll man quarterly #9. I also remember seeing an auction on Heritage for a full story drawn titled " Super-American." I think it was for Fight #16. I am sure there are more and I am hoping to unearth some of them in this thread.
  2. Terrific. Looks like a copy that Flex would have hunted down. I agree. I can't wait to see what Flex thinks of this one
  3. Words can't describe how happy I am with this new book. Colors are outstanding ..... For reference this is what this issue looks like 98% of the time when you find one...
  4. That was a great gesture on your part to help them complete the project and let collectors and readers see the inside of this rare book. Planet 15 is one of Zolnerowich rarest covers. He was the cover artist on the three rarest issues from Fiction House : Planet 15 Jumbo 31 Rangers 2 There are several others that could easily be added to this list like Planet 13 or Planet 14 which he also was the cover artist.
  5. I'm pretty sure a boardie posted a slabbed book where CGC noted the artist as "Zolne Rowich". That's funny, I thought the same thing when I first started noticing his work. The placement of his name is always hidden but very "findable".
  6. Dan Zolnerowich had many Fiction House covers for Jumbo, Planet, Fight and Jungle. Here is his first cover for Jungle Comics. Any book I post, I will clarify if I own it or not. I own this one
  7. Dan Zolnerowich started working for Eiser-lgner Studio in 1939, and is most famous for his works for Fiction House. Later in the 1950s, he changed his name to Dan Zolne. Fortunately for collectors of his work, he signed a majority of his covers with Zolnerowich.
  8. I've wanted to start this thread for quite a while so I woke up this morning did a few other things and decided today was the day to get this conversation going. I have enjoyed going through other threads (like the current Dan Decarlo thread) that were started about certain artists. The detailed discussion and great scans are super useful and interesting to learn. I have enjoyed the other threads and wanted to start one about one of my favorite GA artists Dan Zolnerowich. It is my intention through this thread for anyone to share cover scans of Dan Zolnerowich work, discuss details about his work, talk rarity, show commissioned art by him, and talk about his career.....etc. Basically anything goes. All contributions will be appreciated. What I would specifically like to see also in this thread is some scans and discussion about his INTERIOR art. A majority of it I know many have not seen. Thank you to all in advance for the conversation, scans, and knowledge shared about this great artist.
  9. I agree with you and what Randall says in previous post. Unobtrusive writing location and definitely adds to the story and in my opinion the value. Kind of like signed Okajima books are more charming and sought after than just coded okajima. I have yet to get an Eldon or a Recil Macon and enjoy both of their stories and their signature (unobtrusive of course) on the books. Also, super nice book no matter the pedigree
  10. That ain't Junk in that drawer brother!! No kidding! Love the GUNS book! I'm still looking for one of those! That is quite a haul !! Annie Oakley
  11. Beautiful!! I agree with you, it is a cool cover and the coloring and patterns of the coloring make it all the more interesting.
  12. 19 is one of my favorite Planets, but not me. I did not bid.
  13. Very nice book. A true gem to add to your collection.
  14. Wow, nice books. Comics bring a ray of sunshine to opening up the mail box.
  15. Beautiful group of books. Explosive way to start posting on the boards
  16. Nice group of books. Alot of great titles in there.
  17. That is one beautiful book. A very hard issue to locate.
  18. Nice book. I've always liked 23. Flex has a nice copy.
  19. I like your new book. Eldon must have loved that book a little more than his others. I always like seeing Eldon's books.
  20. I know this is not an OA forum, but it is fiction house. I won this at auction a few weeks ago and it is my first piece of original art to own. I just opened it up today and I have to say how impressed I am with the piece. Printers marks and corrections look very cool. I purchased this mainly because it is from one of my favorite Fight Comics which is # 32. I also think it is extra neat page with the Nazi references and symbol.
