  1. Had a similar question in the Ask CGC forum. I had submitted it as a Mark Jeweler but it wasn’t logged as such (by CCS). They said it would be reviewed and corrected during grading. However, if the QA topic/thread is any indication, they may just miss/ignore it and not correct it. So short answer to your question: graders will supposedly catch and correct it, but they might not.

  2. I had submitted a comic as a Mark Jewelers edition (CGC2071574020) but noticed how it was received and logged into the system doesn’t indicate that. Is that normal?

(I saw a copy of the same comic graded with the MJ notation on ebay. It was graded in 2021.)

  3. Unfortunately, they say their turnaround times only start when the submission is actually logged into the system and not when it arrives from the shipping carrier. I wish they’d go back to indicating what packages were being opened (“processing packages received the week of xxx”) like they did about a year ago when they had that massive backlog.

  4. It depends. Per their fees page: “The grade assigned to the book should not change, unless any damage occurred post-encapsulation, in which case the grade will be adjusted accordingly. To qualify, the book must still be encapsulated in its original CGC holder.”

I’ve had a couple of damaged slabs reholdered with no grade changes. In my case, the inner sleeve was still intact. If in doubt, you could post the question and pics to the Ask CGC forum.
