  1. Id like to know where you can find a graded 9.0 for $1,500!
  2. Ask for scans of this book! I hate to do this to the seller, because he seems like a really nice guy, but from the pictures emailed (as opposed to those on ebay) this book looks pretty beaten up on the back bottom edge. Just make sure you know what your buying The book is described as being in VG condition on ebay I never argued the description of condition, just said make sure to get some photos, so you know exactly what you are buying. I rather have a VG with a bunch of bends on the spine than an edge that looks like it was chewed by an animal, but that's just me.

  4. Heck of a nice looking 6.0. I love those water damage books
  5. Here is something really cool I picked up a year or 2 ago. Its a bound collection of 5-11 plus all of the comic sized single shots and grimjack
  6. I think someone owes CGC some money for the amount of bandwidth this thread has wasted Then again am I really helping the problem my posting this useless message?
  7. Nice Jad. Why stop at #4? Who said I stopped at #4? Ill post something really neat a little later when I have a chance to take a couple photos
  8. Today I finished by TMNT 1-4 run Thank you Adam and Michael for your help with completing this. All issues are white pages and all are 9.8 except for #1, which is a 9.4 signed by Eastman and Laid with a sketch on the inside cover. This gave me enough points to tie for #5 in the registry sets. Yeap, turtles sets are getting that competitive around here!
  9. I'll need to pick up a Bone 1. How much does a CGC 9.8 cost? Only two copies have been graded a 9.8. Last one sold for about 5 grand.
  10. I don't believe it has been reprinted. F.Y.I. here is the : used the characters to do a comic strip in his college newspaper called "The Lantern" at state. The strip was called "Thorn" not bone originally, hence the title Thorn: Tales from the Lantern. This book is a collection of those newspaper strips. After he left , he created the Bone comic book published by Cartoon Books. So these strips are non-canon story wise to the Bone comic, but it's a really cool book. I want to say the print run was a couple thousand but I'm not sure. Bear in mind though they were sold/given out on the Ohio State campus not sold to comic book collectors. So the majority of them were destroyed, thrown away, etc... They are REALLY hard to find. I've only seen 2 ever come up for sale. One was the really nice one mentioned previously that sold last summer. The other one had a big coffee ring stain on the cover. The person selling it was an Ohio State graduate who learned it was valuable and sold it on (not a comic book collector). I've never actually seen one in person. Couple comments: 1. No it was never reprinted and Jeff Smith has stated it will never be reprinted. However, *some* of the work was reprinted in a limited edition book put out in 2008. 2. The storyline is not the same or correlated to the comics but is extremely similar. The Bone comics are obviously heavily based on the newpaper strips collected in this book. This was not all, but some of the strips used in the paper school newspaper "The Lantern". Some of the panels look almost the same as those used in the comics. It's quite interesting for a collector to read. 3. 1000 where printed and supposedly out of those only 600 sold. 600 books sold 10 years or so before the comic caught on and at a college campus of all places. The book is over 25 years old now. Not many seem to have survived for obvious reasons.
  11. Really nice copy. I was quite surprised to see it resold so quickly. Great buy  As for Thorn, if you see a respectable copy grab it. Super, super hard book and the few around generally look a little beat. The copy that sold for $1000 I kind of regret not purchasing, as beat copies sell for $700+ and that one was really nice. But, at the time I was out of the country and it was hard to warrant buying a second copy or releasing my grasp on the copy of have with it's interesting and documented history.
  12. I also managed to recently to purchase an amazing raw copy of Bone #2. I would be surprised if the book did not come back a 9.8
  13. Here is my copy which I have not posted in awhile. This copy quite unique as I know the entire history of ownership of the book and had it documented when purchased. The book was originally given to Jeff's boss Bob at the bookstore he worked at while attending college.
  14. Super nice copy of a super hard to find book. Show us some more picture of it
  15. Great book, Jad. Now you need to find a 9.8 #1. ! Michael you know I wont stop till I do...but odds are by the time I find one I will look like this guy
  16. Just got this back from CGC not too long ago. I bought this book raw and it graded an outstanding 9.8 WP, which I am just ecstatic about. For you that are not familiar with TMNT #2 this is a difficult book to find in 9.8 and white page copies never seem to come up for sale. I feel very, very fortunate for this find.
  17. Depending on many variables (such as PG, signed/sketched, selling venue, etc) they seem to range from about $1200ish-$3000ish for the three grades you are referring to. DAMMMNN!!!!! I may have to get a CGC 7.5 or 8.0 copy. Even that's going to run you $850-$1000. Shoot, a 7.0 sold in January for $1000 and a 6.5 sold in February for $995. I need to complete some Wolverine sets before I can get a TMNT #1 But the prices gives me a good idea on how much I need to save up The prices do tend to fluctuate a bit on the book also. If you only look for a month or two you will probably come out closer to the upper end of the range. If you want an 8.5 at the low end of the range I quoted, you will probably be searching for a year. Then there will be a strange auction, from a shady seller on ebay, ending late on a saturday night Ready to take a risk?

  19. Going to get one signed? If the opportunity arises and I'm feeling so inclined... but interior sigs only. I got my original copies of 3-8 that I bought off the stand signed by both guys back in '87. They were doing a tour promoting their popular indy book, TMNT. Later I picked up a 1st print #2 but have only had 2nd and 4th print of #1 for forever. I'm glad to finally have finished the set. In digging through my TMNT box the other day I also found the TMNT RPG book (signed) and a 1st print of the first graphic novel (reprinting 1-4 in color). FWIW I just "gave" the 8.0 to my best friend at lunch today. I've had a box of his books for a long time, promising to sell them for him. I told him I'd keep the books and he could have he new precious. sounds like a good friend to me!
