  1. Really temped on that box set with OA, but $1000. Errr I dont know. $500 and I would be jumping on it!
  2. You always seem to buy this book when there is a great deal to be had!
  3. Congrats on the great pickup man. I was actually the under-bidder on the piece, however lucky for you I decided not to put in a final bid
  4. TMNT #1 9.8 would destroy this book if it went up for auction IMHO. Now as for the Gobbledygook, I must say I am also surprised by the price. But think about this, outside our little circle there are still few that have had access or knowledge of authentic copies of this book. If all those silver age marvel books with thousands in the census can be worth ridiculous amounts of money why cant a copper book that is highly sought after and nearly nonexistent be worth a pretty penny? Do I think if another one went for sale tomorrow it would bring nearly the same amount of money? Nope. Do I think the book has some pretty decent long term potential and has increased in value the last couple years? Yeap.
  5. I'll take bootleg or counterfeit copies. Good luck. They are has hard to find as the real ones How much do they go for? If I remember correctly Archon_Turtle bought the last public set for sale off Dave (forget his board name). I think it was in the 400-500 range. At the time I remember thinking the price was crazy, but now that i have a real set and would love to compliment it with some counterfeits...

  7. Nope. its at just under 5.4. I think it COULD pass 10 on auction day Anyone notice that the set of books is over 8K? That is surprising to me, I must say.
  8. Is that site old and outdated, or still running strong? Maybe I have to join it to find the current info/articles? Is that your site? I joined. ASM 136 but no ASM 135? No Cerebus #1? Cerebus #1
  9. So who wants to guess the ending bids on the books and the art?
  10. Yea I was hopeful also, but this is out of my league
  11. I agree. To me this would be a major concern and may make a sale in the future difficult. You should get a bill of sale to prove the history from this point, but I dont see how you could trace the book back prior. The book looks legit in the pictures and comes from a good source. Just buy it at a price you are comfortable with and enjoy. If you are looking for a more documented book consider the ones at auction right now, but I am guessing you are getting a better deal on these
  12. Thats sick! Back in my undergrad days I used to have a super mario bro's arcade. I still kick myself for letting go of that
  13. Nice! 8.5's are pretty hard to come by!
  14. Not sure that I would totally agree with that, only because Turtlemania Special #1 gold edition has sold for $4000+ on more than one occasion. I would agree with juggernaut. Here is why: - The Turtlemania sales have been private. No known public sales. - Gobbleygook has a long history of being raw and sought after. This is a more recent occurrence with Turtlemania Gold, to the best of my knowledge. -The book was not printed by mirage and has no real historical significance. The back ad on Gobbleygook is significant. There is also no story on the inside of Turtlemania. -The book is sought really after only by TMNT perfectionists and people interested in the specific books artwork. Now I am not badmouthing the book, heck if the price was substantially lower I would love to own one. However, I do see these are reasons for price fluctuation. The book is desirable, but only to a very specific buyer in a very specific market. Given the right conditions the book could easily have a wild price swing in either direction. I just don't see the same value and price stability in a Turtlemania Gold as a set of Gobbleygooks, which is how they are almost always sold. However, if you are talking Turtlemania Gold vs. Gobbleygook #1, that might just be another story. Due to the pure scarcity of Turtlemania gold and Gobbleygooks strength of being sold in a set, you may just have a winner. There will probably always be two turtle super collectors wanting a copy There again if all ten sets are found...
  15. The Heritage auction is live and the Gobbledygook books are already well over $3000 w/ BP with weeks left! http://comics.ha.com/common/search_results.php?Ntk=SI_Titles&Ntt=goobeldygook&Nty=1&N=52+793+794+791+1893+792+2088+&chkNotSold=0&Ns=
  16. Not at much as you would think. I got super, super, amazingly lucky buying it raw I don't wanna even know do I?.......I bought mine at the peak and it was slabbed. You are a patient and therefore smarter man. You definitively don't want to know. However I still don't think you got a bad deal. Your copy is arguably the nicest ever sold (thumbs u Anyways, WTF are the chances of finding a raw 9.6 anyways? I just got very, very lucky.
  17. Not at much as you would think. I got super, super, amazingly lucky buying it raw
  18. I got something special in the mail today... Who wants to guess what it is?
  19. I don't know about this "alot of his stuff ends up on ebay" bit as I haven't sold anything on in a long time. And yes, in regards to my turtles toys that I have been selling, I do have doubles (and triples sometimes) of those. Obviously pieces such as this I do not have doubles of, but in the case of all of the Gobbledys I've sold, yes, I do. My intersts recently have shifted almost completely into early TMNT artwork. So again you are wrong that I am selling my most rare art pieces as last I checked I do still have plenty of prime art, including 4 early covers, as can be seen in my sig below that I have not offered for sale. This deal for the Turtlemania was a rare occurence for me to part with early tmnt art. And if it wasn't for the fact that me and Steph are such good friends, I really don't know if I would have done it otherwise. Through the years I've managed to be fortunate enough to land some incredible pieces. Is it wrong of me to sell some of these goodies to fellow collectors? Money aside, I really, really get alot of joy out of helping others land some of these incredibly difficult pieces, pieces that if it wasn't for me selling, they may never have been able to get at all. My is over. Steph, my man, I am so happy you are happy with the book! I think it's head and shoulders above that other gold out there. Good luck with the grading. Enjoy and see you in a couple days! Danny you are a good man and a value to the community. Honestly, with all my heart I must say: Thank You. -Jad
  20. Yea I remember hearing about the offer price. Too much for my tastes. I honestly just don't get the book. But, I do love the sketch on the back of yours. It is awesome and IMHO far superior to this raph sketch.
  21. After it was pulled from the pedigree auction, it was sold to a private party (I do not know who) along with a graded silver for an undisclosed lump sum. Though I do know it was a cash/trade combination deal. Interesting. Thanks for the info (thumbs u
