  1. Looks like the bad guy caught Disco Fever by the last panel.
  2. I hope it's what you are after. It looks good in hand and I was happy with it when I got it.
  3. That is a beautiful 5.5. Awesome pickup. Buy those all day at that price.
  4. After looking at Filter81's very nice restored Marvel Comics #1 for $30k - and trying to figure out how I could make that happen - I can't comprehend paying this kind of money for either book. However, for me, I would want that Flash #1. 17 graded and only two better than a 6.5. AF has 22 graded 9.2 or higher (about half restored though).

  6. Thnx Bob - I'm starting to get hooked, as well. Pardon me sir - please allow me to assuage your anguish with this (another new arrival yesterday - why, it's just like Christmas!): First time I have seen someone post a copy of that book here, very cool cover. I love all those "unpopular" DC books - All-American, Comic Cavalcade, Leading, but garish Green Lantern costume seems to make for some eye-popping colors on those later AAs. Keep em coming.
  7. I'd been wanting this book since I lost out on a beater copy the first time I came across it nearly a year ago. Then two dealers put up similar copies within a few minutes of each other on the same day on eBay. I snagged the nicer of the two. Odd how things work.
  8. Kudos to MCMiles for reaching into his bag of tricks and pulling out another 9.8 of a book I needed after I delayed too long on buying the first copy he had posted.
  9. That had to come out at pretty much the exact same time the movie was released. The movie hit just in time for Christmas 1937. Beautiful book, great cover and the pencil doesn't change my awe of the book at all.
  10. I love the Vault of Horror - and just in time for the Holidays.
  11. ....and then there are some GREAT Mooney lightning covers.....and this wonderful recreation by Mooney of this hard core GA image... I want to hang out with JB when he is opening boxes. Beautiful books that I rarely see. Awesome additions.
  12. greggy's in the Holiday Spirit! or just dipping into the holiday spirits. (hic)
  13. Kudos to GreatEscape for the safe packaging of two books bought in his VCC auction, plus a great bonus CGC GA book. (All the more surprising that he tossed in considering my failing memory caused him unneeded hassle.)
  14. One of the best covers of all time. Very nice. What he said. (thumbs u Absolutely! ok, I agree it is a really nice cover, but "best" of all time, what am I missing Her rack?
  15. My only Mr. DA, but a cover I really like. (Perhaps he does have a lot of "Alice in Wonderland" moments) I like the covers for this series overall. [/img]
  16. I'll go with the Green Lantern #1 over Detective #3. I really don't like the cover to the Detective all that much, and I'd rather have a #1 with a higher grade. Det. #3 - There is a charm about those early Tec books that I love. Also, it's from 1937!!!
  17. Great collection of stuff at your flickr page. You are a very talented artist. bb Easy for you to say. I haven't slept for three nights since I saw this...
  18. Steranko's two volumes are still the best books I ever read on comic history. The first book better than the second. Those Quality comics are an incredible value. Art superior to most publishers - especially the interiors - and writers/stories as good as any.
  19. 1967 - Hatched 1979 - Tell dad I want to collect baseball cards, he convinces me I want to collect comics (The $50 he gives me to buy first batch of books from Mile High seals the deal). 1979-1983 - Huge collection built up with dad. Understand history of comics, memorize price guide, give John Verzyl enough money he can have a couple kids. Tec 28-30, Military #1, 60 GA Mile Highs, complete Showcase/Brave&Bold/JLA runs highlight collection. 1983 - Dad meets new girlfriend who thinks comics are stupid. I quickly find out "our" collection was "his" collection. He dumps it for pennies on the dollar. I am left with the "junk" I didn't care about - SA marvels and up. 1983-86 - I try to collect a bit, but buying a $5 modern just didn't give the same rush. 1989 - Go to college, decide to sell leftover books because I don't have place to store them and don't want to collect any more. 2007 - Goofing around on eBay, put in a thrill bid on a Batman #11 CGC book that will fit in with my poker collectibles. I win the stupid thing. A couple months later I buy a second comic and I get started with my niche collection. 2008 - Figure out how to pay bills.
  20. Inspired by Shiverbones' collection of cool Christmas memorabilia, let's see those great covers of Christmases past.
  21. Great information. I didn't even think to check Heritage to see if they were the auction house. What a great resource. Thanks for the details and for posting your beauty.
