  1. Awesome. I'd love to spend a couple weeks visiting with BZ and Mark and seeing all of the amazing items they have collected. Absolute treasures! In this undated file photo and provided by the Archives of the State of Maine shows a copy of the Declaration of Independence. This rare 1776 copy of the Declaration of Independence belongs to a Virginia technology entrepreneur, not the state of Maine, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled Friday Feb. 27, 2009. Richard Adams Jr. of Fairfax County purchased the document from a London book dealer in 2001 for $475,000. But the state of Maine claimed it belongs to the town of Wiscasset, where it was kept by the town clerk in 1776. (AP Photo/Archives of the State of Maine)
  2. Cap finds some cool covers. He was rooting out some great deals, but his flamethrower covers were all great pickups. He did get nice Schomberg Speed cover with flamethrowers, racist depictions of Japanese and the Black Cat. Conner has a great eye and it was great to finally meet him. As for the Super-Magician, I am pretty sure Skypinkblu set me up with that one, which was just recently upgraded.
  3. why is it in a qualified holder? If it left the printer like that then wouldn't it be considered an error? I'm sure they put in in the green label so they buyer would notice something was a little off. What I like to think about is what was going through the head of the guy when he put his 10 cents down. Did he just dig how screwed up the printing was and chose that one? Were they all like that and this was the best of the batch? Were all the others gone and he had to take it? I'd love to know.
  4. Kidnapping Brides should be a felony. Come on now, the guys just doing the groom a favor! However a TV show of Brides that go around kidnapping people might be a hoot. "Here Come the Brides" would be the name and, of course, Fox would be the network. Don't be surprised when this shows up as a mid-season replacement.
  5. I also like to pick up magazine covers with playing cards on them. There were three "must have" magazines on my list. Today, I got the last of the three and am very happy with the conditions and colors. My other two favorites: This Bethlehem copy of Star Western A nice non-pulp, oversize Screen Guide from 1939
  6. Kudos to: Fuelman for his Torchy purchases and leaving freebies behind for others Greggy for taking my junky signed Bill Ward stuff Whomerjay for cleaning me out of autographed Ward sketch copies Comicroz for a quick and easy transaction as he bought a gift for a friend (*you may want to become his friend, he buys nice gifts) RedFury for buying three of my best and most valuable GA books from me and ensuring my booth at Terrys' con will suck (It was also great to get a note from him telling me his thoughts on the books after they arrived. Todd's a great guy.) Podboy for taking a classic Valkyrie cover to the Great White North Comicstock for great communication and quick pay on a couple CDNP books. Pinball for making my first Mile High comic now his first Mile High comic. Scrooge for showing me a Four Color poker cover that I did not have on my want list Lastly, to Shiverbones. Matt painted this of my two dogs in his amazing style. I'm very happy, and it will help me survive another Valentine's Day as my wife loves his artwork and those two dogs.
  7. It just doesn't get any better than this classic cover.
  8. So if the account is empty, there is no protection from Paypal?
  9. Looks like one is evolving now: Darwin graphic novel in works
  10. Well, only if someone asks for the person to be put on the list. If it were someone that I'd done business with successfully in the past, I probably would not ask for them to be put on the list right after the 30 day mark. (thumbs u I had a rough month for purchases on the board in December. One waited 3+ weeks to mail it. One person lost the comic and after a month of looking, refunded the money. Another said it was shipping, but then forgot it was at a friends house and after a couple of promises to ship it, ultimately offered to nix the deal or just delay until he could pick it up. I have purchased from all three before, but because they didn't blow off PMs and have good reputations, I didn't feel they deserved to get bashed for honest mistakes or not making my stuff a priority. So they got the benefit doubt and avoid the thread. Good communication goes a long way to resolving these issues.
  11. well, yeah, I guess you have a point. Yeah, but I feel like I might see the same thing in one of your paintings. It makes perfect sense. (maybe because my brain is broke) Great books. I also love the way to dig to find these books. You seem to get some good deals and find very hard to get items, but you seem to really go through a lot of books in different places to do that.
  12. Very Nice! (thumbs u VoH has some great covers - this was one of the best! Cool stories, too. Matt gave up a Christmas book! He must have gotten something pretty nice in return. (My favorite Christmas book and easily one of my favorite EC covers. Congratulations to both of you.)
  13. I may be in the minority, but I have always liked the pre-hero Adventures more than any other run, including the great 1-26 Tec run. It is awesome covers like this one that I just can't see often enough.
  14. I realize that, Bill, but I'm going to give myself 10 years like I did for the Synchronic Collection. I am 7 years and 6 months into the Synchronic Collection which gives me 2 and half years to find those pesky final 5 books. That should work. There are more Four Colors that's for sure but they are quite available and reasonably cheap for the most part. Heck, I've only started a month ago and have close to 400 of them or about 30% of them. I'm moving Gator speed so far but I will slow down quite quickly since this is a marathon not a foot race. Awesome task. I have completed runs of some titles with a couple hundred books in the series - and enjoyed the challenge - but nothing of this magnatude. This is hardcore and should be a lot of fun. I will be looking forward to watching it come together.
  15. Scrooge, thanks for the help earlier today on adding a book to my want list. An incredible variety of books. Are you going for a complete FC run?
  16. it's not that bizarre - it's just a full nelson. "Bizarre" would be try try to apply a full nelson to a surly gorilla. Yeah, but the half-Nelson just never seems to get the job done.
  17. I know my press pass must be around here somewhere. Time for a public records request. Nice collection, I can see why the media was so interested.
  18. What a cover!! Awesome books Matt. Congratulations.
  19. That is a great book. Finally a Centaur I can hunt for my collection. If any of you spot one in your hunts, please drop me a note.
  20. Nah, I was bored, figured I would rattle his cage and see what flew out... I don't agree or disagree with him, and I understand what he is trying to say, even if he comes across as some kinda self appointed forum cop, with no understanding of hypocrisy. However, I do believe this is a Message board, not an auction site, and if you want a sterile buying and selling environment, then stick with Ebay, Clink or Heritage, no one there will congratulate you for a good buy, or post anything unwanted to your sale. Matter of fact, other than the other bidders and the seller, no one will give a rat's arse. I just think there are more important things in life than worrying about extra stuff being posted in threads, yes let people post the books, but don't try to make it so others are afraid to post a comment, or icon. Life is way to short to be bickering back and forth about how many little animations or needless posts someone may have posted. over, go back to fighting amongst yourselves. Nope, not too short at all. Bicker away.
  21. Even though I am obviously a Timely sycophant, you guys are nuts. There are many adjectives to describe this cover. Lame ain't one of them. Set aside the fact that it is an Angel cover for a moment... You have a hot chick with her clothes getting torn off; a hairy, legless dwarf with a hatchet; skulls; and weird, cool machinery. What the heck is there not to like? This cover SCREAMS golden age! It definitely ain't lame! That is a warped cover and one I really like. I also like the various Angel covers - it is the Angel stories that stink up the joint. So when can CGC adopt the "lame" "great" scale for cover notations?
