  1. Any piece that sells for what this piece will sell for deserves to be open to extensive scrutiny... ...but I seriously never thought I'd see the day where we had a "Frazetta didn't actually suck" thread, as this one seems to have transformed into.
  2. Was anything today? The rest of the good stuff is all Sunday, right?
  3. I thought that page was a little light, too. Overall it was pretty cool, but for people who pick these things apart, it maybe had too many smaller panels and it also did not have any panels with the Thing in it.
  4. Overall I thought the day was better than yesterday. I thought the Miller pieces today went for strong prices. I thought 31k for Byrne / Villamonte X-Men page was a strong number. 20k for Byrne portfolio illustration was pretty strong. I like the girl auctioneer. She's was working hard to make it seem like there were a flurry of bids coming in when actually the piece was sitting at the number it'd been at for a week.
  5. You forget to drink your coffee this morning?
  6. Love that page. The Dan Green inked issues from that run are outstanding.
  7. Nearly 11k for the Alpha Flight page that ended tonight!
  8. I predict some things slipping through the cracks. No one can be at their keyboard that long
  9. This auction ends on.... Thursday, Friday and Sunday? Is that right?
  10. It's actually the opposite. The Taschen book has quite a bit more punch to the colors throughout. Likely enhanced digitally. I would guess the Vanguard images are probably more true to the originals, but the Taschen book looks great. The Taschen book is quite a bit more comprehensive. It's 450 pages vs 130 in the Vanguard. One thing I did like about the Vanguard book was the numerous prelims and previous iterations they included. The Taschen book does some of that as well, but it appears to be a point of emphasis with the Vanguard book. FAIL for both: Give us a #$%&-king index already! Want to find "Conan the Berserker?" Good luck with that.
  11. Anyone know where pages from this 80s comic are? I tried reaching out to Den through his website but got my email kicked back.
  12. Yeah, but yours is only one-sided artwork. At most only 50% as valuable as the one that just ended.
  13. Could have been the tape, but IMO ending the auction at midnight ET on a Saturday night probably was more of a factor.
  14. It's possible, but the pool of people interested in Byrne X-Men is pretty deep.
  15. Is that Archie Goodwin? Where did that come from?
  16. There are plenty of bidders who are not bothered by the cut up panels. This won't have a significant affect on this final price IMO.
  17. This would make an interesting poll.
  18. Does it help or hurt when they do a "Dueling Dealers" while an auction is ending?
  19. Love me some Sienkiewicz Elektra Assassin, but how is this one a "Featured Piece?" It's two drawn panels and then SIX stats/colorcopies (including both Elektra panels and the Percy panel) The description currently reads "Mixed media on illustration board".... C'mon, guys, you can do better than that!
